Non-inflammatory disease with chronic symptoms that mainly affects the musculoskeletal system, the most common characteristics present in these individuals are: chronic pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, anxiety episodes, and depression, which significantly affects negative impacts on quality of life of these individuals. OBJECTIVE: To assess whether women with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, who practice dance, present alterations in their pulmonary function. METHODS: This is a descriptive cross-sectional observational study, the sample selected was for convenience, where 23 women with a closed diagnosis of fibromyalgia were evaluated. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Trairi (FACISA/UFRN) number: 3.322.174. The research was carried out in the human motor laboratory of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Trairi (FACISA/UFRN). The following instruments were used in the evaluation: evaluation form containing sociodemographic, clinical and anthropometric data, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to assess pain, spirometry to assess lung function. For data analysis, the following tests were applied: Shapiro-Wilk test for normality of distribution; to verify the predicted and observed values, Spearman's correlation coefficient test, thus establishing a level of statistical significance p < 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval. RESULTS: Regarding the assessment of pulmonary function, statistically significant values were observed for FEV1, FEV1/FVC, FEF25-75%, PEFR, with the best result being FEV1/FVC = 58.8% when compared to the expected value. adequate for the studied group, predicted FEV1/FVC = 75.4, being below the predicted, characterizing a tendency to mild obstructive ventilatory disorder. CONCLUSION: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that women with fibromyalgia presented alterations in lung function when compared to the predicted values, indicating a potential tendency towards an obstructive ventilatory disorder with a mild degree of obstruction.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Fibromialgia.FibromyalgiaMecânica respiratóriarespiratory mechanicsSistema respiratórioRespiratory systemAvaliação da função pulmonar em mulheres com fibromialgia praticantes de dançabachelorThesis
