Thus, the technique has been well accepted in Brazil in public health service institutions and for children enrolled in school units, and can also be used to condition children and patients with special needs. Objective: To conduct an integrative literature review to show the effectiveness of atraumatic restorative treatment (ART). Method: We searched MEDLINE, PUBMED, and LILACS databases using the descriptors: Technique of attraumatic restoration (ART) / Efficiency, Treatment of restoration without trauma, failure in restoration, Caries, Ionomyron cinements, The study included articles written in English and Portuguese, with a maximum of 10 years of publication. Result: in the selected articles it was found that the performer's ability to promote ART may have an impact on the longevity of the restorations and that the type of surface also acts directly on the survival of these restorations, in addition to the type of ionomer used in all studies. Despite varying brands, they always use the high viscosity ionomer.
