Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Educação Física Bacharelado) - Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2021.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/48059With the emergence of this great contemporary health problem, the pandemic, caused by the Covid-19 disease, I started to want to understand how my profession could help to minimize its impact on people. Thus, in this study the general objective was defined, to synthesize, based on current scientific studies, the effect of physical exercise and sedentary behavior in relation to viral diseases in adults, in particular COVID-19, aiming at presenting exercise indications and care. during the post-pandemic period. The methodological procedure used was bibliographic research, of the narrative review type. The PubMed (Public Medline), Scielo (Scientific Eletronic Library OnLine) databases were used as the data source, and 4 articles were selected using the descriptors: Physical exercise. Covid-19. Physical exercise. Social isolation. Sedentary lifestyle, which met the inclusion criteria of the study. Some findings are presented in this research. During this pandemic period, there was a significant decrease in the level of physical activity in Brazilian adults, caused mainly by social isolation, one of the main measures to contain the new coronavirus. The effect of physical inactivity has a relationship with a higher risk of mortality due to various factors and a higher risk for respiratory tract infection. There is no consensus among the authors that physical exercise can be indicated as a non-medication measure to deal with coronavirus infection. And vigorous exercises without the adequate rest period, can be harmful due to the release of oxidants and inflammatory mediators in the body that cause immunosuppression and greater risk of injuries and chronic inflammation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the possibility of infection of the upper respiratory tract by coronavirus increases when there is a deficiency of the immune system. Thus, there is a strong relationship between physical exercise as a favorable action to increase immunity, which reveals the importance of this lifestyle being maintained during people's daily lives. And in the case of infection with Corona virus, the ideal would be a medical evaluation and the monitoring by a multidisciplinary team, to define a program of physical activities to recover from sequelae, which the patient may have acquired. It is concluded, therefore, that the effect of physical exercise and sedentary behavior in relation to viral diseases in adults is evident, especially COVID-19, and thus, health professionals, and in particular Physical Education, should follow the indications and precautions regarding physical exercises in the course and in the post-pandemic period, in the light of science.
