Specifically, we seek to ascertain and understand how teachers deal with methodological approaches in teaching the children from zero to six years in public and private schools in the locus, teachers’ professional experiences, and knowledge of contents. For this study, we take as a basis the RCNEI discussions and those of authors who discuss current methodologies to this niche of education. Six physical education teachers from Natal schools participated in this study, three from public schools and three from private schools. The results showed that the teachers interviewed are unaware of what the term methodology really means and often mix it with content and teaching styles. Out of these, some know what contents are. Others mix it with individuals’ capabilities. The study contributes to the area of physical education because its results point to the need to reorient these teachers on such an important subject as the teaching methods and content.
