To achieve this, the literature on steel connections, with an emphasis on base plates, was reviewed. The study simplified and classified the stress distribution behaviors into compression (C) or axial loads (T), considering three main scenarios: no eccentricity (1), small eccentricity (2), and large eccentricity (3). Structural models and specific calculation procedures were presented for each classification. Following the review, an example from the literature was analyzed, including its detailed calculation procedure. The example was designed according to the previous standard and compared to the new procedure established by NBR 8800:2024. The differences observed in the results are attributed to changes in calculation procedures and varying considerations for stress distribution at the plate-concrete interface.
