However, such use of chemical additives has been the subject of many controversies regarding its harmful effect on health. In this scenario, several methods were developed in order to identify, extract and quantify dyes in various food samples. This study aims to test the feasibility of the thin-layer chromatography method for the separation of synthetic dyes for food purposes, which are present in powder samples of juices, compared to factory standards. From the analyses, it is concluded that said method proved to be partially satisfactory, considering that it was not possible to fully separate some of the dyes.
