Such productions use real or fictional settings to compose their plots. In this interface between tourism and cinema, the images of real destinations projected on screens can promote and enhance tourism activity in the localities, in addition to generating tourist imaginaries among the viewers. Thus, this study aims to interpret the production of the tourist imaginary of Fortaleza-CE through national films set in the capital in the 21st century. This research has a qualitative exploratory-descriptive approach, analyzing ten films that feature Fortaleza as a setting: Assalto ao Banco Central, Brasil Animado, Rânia, Praia do Futuro, Inferninho, O Clube dos Canibais, Greta, Bate Coração, Cabeça de Nêgo, and Fortaleza Hotel. The film analysis employed Content Analysis (Bardin, 1977) and was based on the adaptation of the framework Image Attributes of Tourist Destinations (Santana, 2009), in addition to bibliographic and documentary research on the theme. As a result, we identified Fortaleza as a modern city, with consolidated tourist attractions (both natural and cultural), reinforced in the films, such as the central beaches, the waterfront promenade, and its surroundings.
