Índice CPOD e fatores associados dos moradores do bairro João XXIII no município de Caicó-RN. 2019. 57f. Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Educação, Trabalho e Inovação em Medicina) - Escola Multicampi de Ciências Médicas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/27713The National Oral Health Policy (PNSB, in the Portuguese acronym) provided the qualification of Oral Health care through the Unified Health System (SUS, in the Portuguese acronym), stimulating actions to promote, prevent and recover the oral health of the population. Epidemiological studies of Oral Health use the DMF index to evaluate the prevalence of dental caries in a given population, since it provides the average number of decayed, missing and filled teeth. The objective of this study was to assess the DMF index and associated factors of residents of the neighborhood of João XXIII, in the municipality of Caicó-RN. The research was a study of prevalence of caries disease by the DMF index, performed through an individual questionnaire of socioeconomic identification, behavior related to oral health and clinical evaluation. The sample consisted of 283 individuals. The statistic consisted of a descriptive analysis using absolute and relative values, and then a bivariate analysis to verify the magnitude of association between the variables through the chi-square test. A multivariate analysis was performed using a logistic regression model, using a hierarchical analysis to estimate prevalence ratios for DMF> 11 adjusted for age, schooling, and need for a prosthesis. In the analysis of DMF, the average number of missing teeth (5.44) was higher than that of obturated teeth (4.31) and decayed teeth (1.34). The bivariate analysis showed an association of the individual DMF dependent variable with higher ages (above 34 years old), low level of education (illiterate until elementary school level) and those who needed dental prosthesis. After the multivariate analysis, the variables of age and need for dental prosthesis remained significant. We had a higher average number of missing teeth, followed by obturated and decayed teeth, as well as a higher individual DMF in individuals over 34 years of age and in those who needed dental prosthesis, showing the need to establish a Dental Specialties Center in the municipality for supporting Primary Care in order to reduce dental loss and provide the oral rehabilitation of the population.Acesso AbertoSaúde bucalÍndice CPOEstratégia saúde da famíliaÍndice CPOD e fatores associados dos moradores do bairro João XXIII no município de Caicó-RNmasterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
