Orientador: Rebecca Luna Lucena. 2022. 80f. Dissertação (Mestrado em Geografia - Ceres) - Centro de Ensino Superior do Seridó, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/51271The main objective of this research is to provide a thermal and water diagnosis of the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) based on data from the climatological normal (1981-2010) and from the specific years of 2009 (rainy) and 2012 (dry), through the application of bioclimatic indices of human thermal comfort and aridity indices. With the results of the calculations of the applied indexes (Discomfort Index - ID, Effective Temperature - TE and Effective Temperature as a function of the wind - Tev, Gaussen and Bagnouls Aridity Index, Thorntwaith Aridity Index and De Martonne Aridity Index) , geospatial analyzes were performed using Geoprocessing techniques such as IDW and map algebra, using the free software Qgis, applying the adiabatic temperature gradient in a proportion of 0.6ºC/100 m. Based on the climatological normals of the operating seasons, thermal discomfort was identified in all months of the year according to the results of the ID and TE indexes for the entire state of RN. Considering the results of the thermal comfort indexes ID, TE and TEv, under the altitude x temperature relationship, no thermal discomfort was identified in the areas of the state located at altitudes above 500 meters. When considering the vertical temperature gradient in the map algebra methodology, the ID identifies that in the elevated areas of the state there is no discomfort, in addition to not homogenizing these areas with the adjacent areas, a fact that does not happen with the TE, which has a large breadth between classification classes. Regarding aridity, considering the climatological normal period, the eastern sector of the state is the most humid, and ~75% of the state has a semi-arid climate. We can consider the year 2009 an extremely rainy year and, therefore, atypical. The year 2012 presented “Subdesert” and “Arid” climate classes, according to the Gaussen and Thorntwaite indices, classes that rarely appear in the state of RN when considering the complete historical series.Acesso AbertoConforto térmicoAridezClimatologiaSemiárido brasileiroGeotecnologiasMapeamento da sensação térmica e da aridez no Estado do Rio Grande do NortemasterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIA
