In this context, Instagram stands out as one of the most widely used platforms in Brazil, also impacting public institutions, such as Public Libraries, which have incorporated it into their communication practices. Given this scenario, the focus of this research is the Câmara Cascudo State Library, which, after remaining closed for nine years, was reopened in a context marked by the intensive use of social media, requiring the library to incorporate these tools in fulfilling its informational and communicational functions. Accordingly, the research problem arises from the concern regarding how the Instagram profile of the Câmara Cascudo State Library can socially contribute to the everyday lives of informational subjects. The main objective of this study is to understand the informational practices of the users of the Câmara Cascudo State Library in relation to Instagram, in order to propose improvements to the library's institutional presence on the platform. The specific objectives are: to characterize the posts published by the Câmara Cascudo State Library on Instagram to understand follower engagement; to identify the informational practices of users in relation to their everyday use of Instagram; to investigate the perceptions of informational subjects about the contribution of the library's institutional profile as an informational tool; and finally, to propose strategies to enhance the Instagram presence of the Câmara Cascudo State Library, strengthening its influence and social contribution to its informational community. The relevance of this study lies in the capacity of social media to influence informational services, especially in Public Libraries seeking modernization and continued relevance in the digital environment. The methodology adopted is grounded in an ethnographic approach, using ethnography to understand, from the experiences and perspectives of the interviewees, the informational dynamics in the digital context. Interviews were conducted with eleven individuals at the Câmara Cascudo State Library itself. Based on content analysis, it was observed that the participants mainly perceive Instagram as a space for leisure. By following the library's profile, they show interest in content that combines entertainment and information. It was also found that more than half of the interviewees did not previously follow the library's profile but expressed various thematic interests, which led to the identification of the following user profiles: reader profile; educational profile; informational profile; critical profile; work profile; and everyday life profile.
