In the presence of this comorbidity, the nephrons, which are the functional units of the kidneys, gradually lose their ability to filter the blood and maintain the body's balance. Objective: To map and describe in the scientific literature the alternative therapies that contribute to the quality of life of chronic kidney patients on hemodialysis. Method: This is a Scoping Study or Scoping Review Protocol outlined in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute, Reviewer Manual, and guided by the preferred report items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for scope reviews. The research will take place in the databases described below: National Library of Medicine, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Nursing Database, EMBASE and also in gray literature, more specifically, on the CAPES theses and dissertations portal. Results: 2,013 articles were identified in the National Library of Medicine database, 523 articles in Portuguese and 482 in Spanish in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences / Nursing Database, 927 articles in EMBASE and 91 results in the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Portal.
