It consists of an integrative literature review. The search was carried out in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and PUBMeD. Articles published in the last 10 years were used, from 2015 to 2024. Thirteen articles were selected. The findings of this review on the organization of hospital services for incidents with multiple victims revealed that hospital preparation should be based on a “Hospital Action Plan for IMV”. In most of the hospitals evaluated, hospital treatment capacity was shown to be capable of accommodating outbreaks, but insufficient in cases of mass casualties. Simulation is an effective teaching tool in disaster medicine education.
