In short, this indicator is considered as an official reference to allocate and apply resources related to education. In addition, it can be used as a self-assessment method for institutions that seek to enhance their education quality. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze educational practices and the arrangement of a public school routine located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in order to understand its relation with the increase in the IDEB between 2005 and 2013, from 2.6 in 2005 to 6.8 in 2013 (on a scale from 0.0 to 10.0). The data gathering was performed through the analysis of official documents from MEC and INEP, current and relevant legislation, collection of primary data such as minutes of pedagogical or community meetings, class diaries, reports of the institution‘s secretary, developed projects, teacher planning notebooks and application of questionnaires and interviews to the institution‘s professionals and community representatives.
