O papel social da biblioteca no desenvolvimento da Competência em Informação dos usuários: reflexões teóricas. 2025. 54 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Biblioteconomia) – Departamento de Ciência da Informação, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62851This final paper presents the context of the Information Society, in which we see a scenario of accelerated dissemination of a large amount of information that is expanded with the use of technologies and social media. It reinforces that information is a valuable asset for society and for the individual who needs it in the various areas of life, but that there is difficulty in filtering the information that is necessary, reliable and of quality, added to the current context of the proliferation of disinformation. It reflects on the lack of the individual to develop Information Literacy, that is, to know their information needs, to know how to search, analyze, and use information ethically. It highlights the theme and the importance of the librarian's role in this informational context, considering that this professional is an information mediator. Its research problem is to investigate the role of the library in the development of users' Information Literacy. It presents as a general objective: to identify the social role of the library in the development of users' Information Literacy. And it has as specific objectives: to understand the social role of the library; to highlight the importance of Information Literacy today; and relate the social role of the library to the development of Information Literacy. It uses the inductive approach method as a methodological procedure, in a qualitative framework. As for the procedural methods, the historical method and the functionalist method are used. In addition, the bibliographic research technique is adopted, and the type of research is exploratory. As a result, it understands that the librarian must think about Information Literacy programs, considering the information needs of users, the context of the library, available resources, objectives, methodology, Information Literacy standards to guide the construction of the program, and its evaluation. It concludes that the library must assume an educational role, thinking of strategies that allow the user to develop Information Literacy, skills that are essential today, thus also fulfilling its social role by promoting the development of the individual and the community.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Competência em InformaçãoEra da desinformaçãoSociedade da InformaçãoEvolução das bibliotecasInformation LiteracyAge of disinformationInformation SocietyEvolution of librariesO papel social da biblioteca no desenvolvimento da Competência em Informação dos usuários: reflexões teóricasbachelorThesis
