It is characterized by a series of crustal blocks separated by transcurrent shear zones, which subdivide the province into various domains and subdomains. Among these, in the Rio Piranhas-Seridó Domain, located in the northern portion of the province, supracrustal rocks of the Seridó Group outcrop. This paleobasin is composed of clastic metasedimentary rocks, metapelitic rocks, metagreywackes, calc-silicate rocks, quartzites, and marbles. The focus of this study is on the metaconglomerates of the Equador Formation, located in the municipality of Parelhas/RN, to the SSE of the Rio Piranhas-Seridó Domain. The study aims to analyze the geochemical provenance of different clasts found in this type of rock. The methods used for the development of the research included fieldwork, during which samples were collected, and clast counting in 1.10 m² areas, where the clasts were identified and classified into distinct lithotypes. The lithologies contributing to the metaconglomerate sedimentation include metagranites (55%), epidote metagranites (25%), monzodiorites (4%), and clasts of quartz and calcite (16%). These samples were subsequently subjected to chemical analyses and thin section preparation.
