It goals to delineate a state of the art on the digital preservation, its concepts and techniques, as well as presenting some of the organisms today stressing in this area, nationally as well internationally. It was used as methodology a bibliographic research, where national and international texts had been used, of books and periodics in digital media. It still presents a picture elaborated from the research, where the main techniques of preservation, its advantages and disadvantages will be approached.
