The fear of being infected by the virus and not knowing the consequences of this infection can have significant impacts on the mental health of these women, generating direct consequences at the time of delivery and on the well-being of these women. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and maternal well-being in birth situation. These are the preliminary results of a cross-sectional, quantitative study, in which 10 Brazilian women were evaluated, who had children between 2020 and 2023. The protocol applied was composed of an evaluation form (prepared by the responsible researchers), the Perinatal COVID-19 Fear Scale (EMC 19-9) and the Maternal Well-Being Scale in Birth Situation (BMSP2). The average maternal well-being scores in birth situation indicate "bad-being" and there were no significant differences when compared the method of delivery. However, women who had a cesarean section more frequently reported care provided abruptly by the team. Regarding fear of COVID-19, the majority of women interviewed reported being, at some level, afraid of COVID-19, regardless of the method of delivery. There was no association between maternal well-being in birth situation and fear of COVID-19. It is possible that this non-association is linked to the small sample size, making it necessary to elucidate these results in subsequent studies.
