The aim of this study is to survey the socio-demographic profile and medical prescription in primary care in Caicó-RN. This is an observational, descriptive-exploratory study, carried out from July to September 2022, through the application of a form to medical prescribers working in basic health units. This covered socio-demographic issues of prescribers and pertinent to the elaboration of the prescription. Most participants are aged up to 60 years (82.34%), have a postgraduate degree (58.82%), have an ineffective employment relationship (82.36%) and have worked in primary care for ≥ 1 year (82.36%). 34%). Most base the preparation of the prescription on evidence from the scientific literature, REMUME and clinical experience (76.47% each) and use scientific articles as the main source of update (82.35%). Most recommend purchase (70.58%) and the Aqui Tem Farmácia Popular Program (64.70%) in case of lack of medication in municipal pharmacies. The most prevalent categories that emerged from the content of the participants' statements were updating REMUME (28.60%), communication about medicines available in stock (17.90%), availability of medicines (14.30%) and pharmacy installed in the UBS (14.30%).
