As to the objectives, this research is descriptive, since it presents the analysis of the validity of a quantitative instrument that seeks to understand and describe reasons for volunteering in the Pastoral da Criança. The survey is based on theoretical ideas of Souza Medeiros and Fernandes (2006). The index of reliability - Cronbach's Alpha - reached values between 0.7 and 0.8. The Test Adequacy of Sample Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin reached also a good index: 0.74. Despite good reliability and suitability tests of Factor Analysis in any of the variables was found the combination of profile X issues expected.
