Delusional discourse provokes antagonistic reactions, both of strangeness regarding the enigmatic dimension of the language of psychoses and the fascination of wanting to know how the person who listens can operate. In the activity of listening to psychotic subjects, who historically have been silenced as a treatment technique, I ask what can happen when delirium is heard and what effects are produced in the modes of caregiving. The question that underpins this study is: How can listening to psychotic subjects, in their discourses said to be delusional, chance the construction of deinstitutionalization processes? From this perspective, I analyze the effects of listening to delirium as a singular truth of a subject. The study is based on the orientation of the psychoanalytic method. The research was carried out at Dr. João Machado General Hospital, a component of the Psychosocial Care Network in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, which is historically known as a psychiatric institution, with focus on treating mental health crises and the possibility of hospitalization. I applied the clinical-methodological technique called flânerie listening, articulated with diaries of experiences as the problematic field and the clinical case as the construction tool. The proposal to work with delirium was not to confront it, seeking a certain adaptation of the subject to shared discourse, but rather to take into consideration the reconstructive force of psychotic stabilization, as well as the capacity to form social ties and define paths for escape from enclosure. Regarding the work of deinstitutionalization, in its ramblings, the effort was to de-lirar by hazarding to travel over the avenues indicated by that which is outside the mold, outside the straight paths of the asylum rationale.
