Based on this question, we started this study, inspired by hermeneutic phenomenology, whose objective was to understand the meanings of young people and adults experience of suffering due to the use of their mobile devices. To this, we had the participation of two collaborators, who were invited to narrate their experiences in narrative interviews that, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, were carried out remotely. Considering that for Martin Heidegger, understand is always interpret and that understanding is the original opening of senses that constitutes man as a being-in-the-world, the narratives were interpreted from the hermeneutic circularity, counting on the affectation of the researcher throughout the course of the search. As results, we observed that the way of using mobile devices reveals ways of being-there itself. Our collaborators revealed how much the relationship with their smartphones has been causing damage to their lives, feeling trapped, experiencing existential dilemmas for which they find it difficult to find a way out, as they see themselves governed by impersonality. Furthermore, they demonstrated ways of responding to the requests of the world that characterize, in some circumstances, an abandonment of themselves and difficulty in dealing with the debt of their inexorable freedom. The excessive use of mobile devices is shown as a risk to Dasein of losing itself, remaining in the thought that calculates, and can reveal the feeling of imprisonment. Carrying out this research promoted deep reflections on the ways in which we are using mobile devices and their impacts on our ways of relating to the world. We hope that the findings of this research will broaden the understanding of suffering due to smartphone use and encourage further studies in this field of knowledge.Acesso AbertoPesquisa fenomenológicaPsicologia fenomenológica hermenêuticaSmartphonesMartin HeideggerDispositivos móveisNarrativas de sofrimento devido ao uso do smartphone: aprisionamento do ser-aí à técnicadoctoralThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIA
