It outlines how attempts to overcome dualism accentuated the division between the constituent parts of the human being, especially after the advent of the Copernican revolution and Darwin's evolutionism. It points out how the stripping of a sacred vision concerning the human being contributed to its placement as an object of modern technique. It presents the Jonasian proposal to overcome dualism through an integral monism, in which the phenomenon of life comes to be understood as a unity between body and mind. It discusses how such a perspective can re-signify the role of the human being with nature, especially in the maintenance of the evolutionary process.
