Os motivos para a aderência à prática profissional do MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) no estado do Rio Grande do Norte

The present work developed during the current year aims: 1) to understand the reasons for (growing) adherence to the professional practice of Mixed Martial Arts – MMA in the state of Rio Grande do Norte; 2) to draw a profile of its practitioners and teachers, here from the state. Besides that, we made a historical rescue of this modality and we discuss its popularization in the world, in Brazil and in the RN. Therefore, a bibliographic research was carried out including sites, blogs, articles, monographs, dissertations, theses and books about this subject. Therefore, a fieldwork was done, with application of questionnaires directed to athletes and teachers of the modality. We came to the conclusion that the MMA, today, is one of the most popular sports in the world and in our state, being also in high level in the sports modalities in general in those scales. As for the athletes, they seek not only financial stability with the sport, but a dream, often already of child of being professional fighters, competing in the most diverse places in the world and having due recognition of the media, sponsors and, above all, of the public.
