Da lógica algorítmica ao comentário: Blog do BG como agente de permissão discursiva da violência política de gênero nas eleições de Natal em 2024

The expansion of digital platforms has profoundly transformed the circulation of information and public debate, amplifying the role of algorithms in selecting and distributing content. In this context, social networks such as Instagram have become central spaces for informational production, consumption, and interaction, influencing the visibility of political and social discourses. This research investigates the relationship between the algorithmic logic of digital platforms and the circulation of political gender-based violence during the 2024 municipal elections in Natal, Brazil. The study focuses on comments published on posts from the Blog do BG Instagram profile related to Natália Bonavides's candidacy for Mayor of Natal. Initially, concepts such as cyberculture, information overabundance, filter bubbles, attention economy, disinformation, and algorithmic opacity are discussed. Subsequently, political gender-based violence is addressed as a mechanism for delegitimizing women's participation in spaces of power. Methodologically, the research adopts a qualitative approach, combining Bardin's content analysis, Charmaz's coding procedures, and Minayo's interpretive perspective. To compose the corpus, the Stilingue platform was used to identify publications, with 121 comments qualitatively analyzed from the ten most-liked Blog do BG posts mentioning the candidate. The results indicate a high incidence of manifestations classifiable as political gender-based violence, present in 76% of the analyzed comments, as well as a correlation between the framing adopted by the outlet and the intensity of the observed attacks. It is concluded that Blog do BG acted, within the studied scope, as an agent of discursive permission for political gender-based violence, contributing to the legitimization and circulation of delegitimizing political discourses directed at the candidate. This research seeks to contribute to debates on digital platforms, democracy, disinformation, and women's political participation.
Narrativa transmídia da trajetória do figurino da quadrilha junina no RN

This technical report presents the development of the transmedia project “Moda em Foco” (Fashion in Focus), which narrates the history of junino festival costumes from their origins through columns, articles, and text and video reports published on Blogger, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The motivation for this work stemmed from the question of whether quadrilha costumes had drifted away from their roots and ceased to be popular. The hypothesis proposed that this had indeed occurred due to transformations in the garments. Therefore, the general objective was to resolve this question and share the findings with the public, uncovering the history of these costumes. To achieve this, it was necessary to conduct research, carry out interviews, and plan and produce this project for social media platforms. Chianca was a key author for uncovering the history of costumes in Natal; Ortiz for understanding popular culture; Canclini for studying hybridity; Beltrão and Antonio Hohlfeldt for analyzing the role of folkcommunication in quadrilha festivals; and Jenkins for understanding transmedia narratives. An interview with quadrilha costume dressmaker Patrícia Alziely served to update data within this research field. Finally, it was concluded that while a departure from the original costume did occur, these transformations embedded quadrilha costumes even deeper within the context of popular culture.
“Sob o sol desta cidade”: um retrato documental da dança em Natal

This paper presents the technical report of the journalistic documentary "Sob o Sol Desta Cidade" ("Under the Sun of This City"), produced as a final undergraduate project in Journalism at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The research investigates how dancers from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, built their professional trajectories in the city and, despite challenges related to professional recognition, funding, and visibility, chose to remain active in the field of dance. The hypothesis is that, although these artists face structural difficulties, they continue their artistic practice due to the affective, cultural, and identity bonds established with dance. The main objective was to produce a documentary that examines the trajectories of dance artists in Natal, reflecting on both the challenges and the possibilities of artistic practice in the city. The study is justified by the need to contribute to the preservation of the memory of dance in Natal and to increase the visibility of local artists. Methodologically, this is a qualitative study developed through bibliographic research, in-depth interviews, and documentary audiovisual production. The theoretical framework draws on the contributions of Le Goff (2012) regarding memory; Vieira (2020) on the history of dance in Natal; Ramos (2008), Nichols (2005), and Melo (2002) on documentary studies; Field (2001) on screenwriting; Caputo (2010) on interviews and Santo (2017) on art direction.
O futebol como pertencimento: a importância do esporte na comunidade Quilombola de Capoeiras em Macaíba-RN.

This Final Course Project analyzes the importance of football in the quilombola community of Capoeiras, located in Macaíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, highlighting its role as an element of social integration, cultural identity, and preservation of local traditions. The study was developed through the production of an audiovisual documentary, using a qua-litative approach based on interviews with residents, football players, supporters, and people historically connected to the sport within the community. The research showed that football goes beyond its sporting dimension, functioning as a space for social interaction, leisure, and intergenerational exchange. The testimonies collec-ted demonstrated that the sport contributes to the construction of collective memory and stren-gthens the residents' sense of belonging. Furthermore, the images recorded during local tour-naments revealed strong community participation and the relevance of the football field as a place of cultural appreciation and social interaction. As a result, the documentary proved to be an effective tool for recording and preser-ving the community's experiences, increasing the visibility of its cultural practices and em-phasizing football as a social heritage and a fundamental element of the collective identity of the quilombola community of Capoeiras. Como radicalizar um Normie : o uso de memes como ferramenta de propaganda da extrema-direita

Memes produced and disseminated by the digital far-right constitute one of the most effective forms of contemporary political propaganda, operating through invisibility, gradual normalization, and the fragmented information consumption characteristic of Generation Z. This study investigates the semiotic and communicational mechanisms by which these memes function as tools of political radicalization, focusing on the period from 2016 to 2022 and the Brazilian context. The research, qualitative in nature and exploratory-descriptive in scope, combines bibliographic research, documentary research drawing on the Know Your Meme repository, and case study analysis of a corpus of memes selected according to criteria of dissemination breadth, targeting of young audiences, and identifiable ideological content. The theoretical framework articulates Shifman's (2013) concept of digital memes and Recuero's (2009) typology with Barthes's (2003) theory of myth, which provides the central semiotic framework: the far-right political meme operates as a Barthesian myth by installing an ideological second level over an apparently neutral first level, naturalizing what is historical and contingent. This mechanism is articulated with Munn's (2019) alt-right pipeline model, which describes three progressive cognitive phases (normalization, acclimation, and dehumanization) and with Gracyk's (2023) typology of cultural appropriation. The cases analyzed include milk as a white supremacist symbol, the OK symbol as a fascist dog-whistle, the trajectory of the term woke, the manosphere's hierarchy, the fashwave aesthetic, and the meme factories of Brazil's Movimento Brasil Livre. The findings demonstrate that the asymmetry between left and right in the use of these mechanisms is not accidental but structural, and that the pattern of symbolic reappropriation identified in contemporary cases has historical precedents dating back to Nazism.
Boy, bora no cinema: um podcast de crítica cinematográfica para o público potiguar

This Final Course Project is a Product that addresses the production of a film criticism podcast aimed at the public of Rio Grande do Norte, based on the relationship between journalism and cinema as ways of narrating and interpreting stories. This Final Course Project arises from the author’s interest in working professionally as a film critic and the identification of the scarcity of this type of content in journalistic media in Rio Grande do Norte, in contrast to the consolidated presence of film criticism in national media. This product doesn’t intend to investigate the causes of this absence, but to contribute to expanding the supply of this content in the state, considering the existence of an interested audience and legal organizations linked to film criticism. For the realization of this Product, the podcast format was chosen, due to its accessibility, practicality of consumption and ease of production and distribution through digital platforms, especially the Spotify platform, which also has its own tool for editing audio produced for the platform. The research was guided by the following problem: How to produce and execute a film criticism podcast aimed at the public of Rio Grande do Norte ? To answer this question, this Final Course Project sought to identify linguistic, cultural, and social elements that comprise the identify of Rio Grande do Norte and that can be incorporated into the language of a film podcast, using bibliographic research as the basis for this work, as suggested by Stumpf (2019), as well as scriptwriting, recording and editing the podcast episodes through the “Spotify for Creators” platform, to bring this product to fruition.
Além das ondas: os desafios da pesca artesanal em Natal/RN

Titled “Beyond the Waves: The Challenges of Artisanal Fishing in Natal-RN,” the study shows the challenging situation faced by artisanal fishermen in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte. As a special audiovisual report, the production addresses not only the difficulties experienced by the people involved but also the importance of these stories for the cultural identity of the city of Natal. The research problem revolves around these challenges and how fishing communities deal with their rights. Aiming to show the reality of fishing communities on the Potiguar coast amid a conflict between preserving their traditional rights to sustainable use of coastal areas and resisting leaving these spaces, the research mapped the trajectory of this issue and later analyzed the current changes. The production of the special audiovisual report tackled the negative aspects and, due to journalistic tools, it was necessary to give visibility to the resistance the communities' response to pressures, also highlighting the social and economic role of artisanal fishing in the port area of the Rio Potengi and the capital.
Jornalismo de celebridade, valor-notícia e produção de sentido: uma análise da comunicação do veículo Hollywood Forever TV

This study analyzes the journalistic coverage produced by Hollywood Forever TV (HFTV) on the X platform, aiming to understand how news values and meaning-production processes are manifested in celebrity journalism within digital environments. The research is based on Mauro Wolf's (2012) concepts of newsworthiness and Viviane Borelli's (2005) perspective of journalism as a space for the production of meaning, while also engaging with authors who discuss celebrities, pop culture, and digital communication. Methodologically, the study is characterized as bibliographic research and employs Bardin's (2011) content analysis to examine the posts published by the profile during April 2026. The corpus consists of 92 posts, categorized according to the celebrities mentioned, cultural products, cited media outlets, and other recurring themes. The results demonstrate that HFTV has a distinctive editorial identity, characterized by a high frequency of publications, rapid content updates, and the selection of topics with strong repercussion on digital platforms, particularly those related to music, cinema, television series, and prominent celebrities. The findings indicate that the outlet prioritizes events aligned with the criteria of relevance, timeliness, and audience interest, revealing selection processes consistent with the news values described by Wolf. It was also observed that, although the posts are predominantly brief and adapted to the structural limitations of the X platform, the profile acts as a space of symbolic mediation by determining which events, artists, and cultural products receive visibility. The study concludes that Hollywood Forever TV plays a significant role in the circulation of information about entertainment and pop culture, contributing to the construction of meanings, the maintenance of celebrity visibility, and the consolidation of communicative practices characteristic of contemporary digital journalism.
Onde estão as jornalistas sapatão?: uma análise do apagamento lésbico em personagens jornalistas no cinema hollywoodiano

This research studies the absence of representation of the lesbian journalist in films produced by Hollywood cinema, with the aim of understanding the reasons for lesbian invisibility in audiovisual productions of the most influential Western cinema and how lack of representation impacts the lesbian as an individual belonging to society. For such a discussion, the theoretical framework brings studies from Butler (2023), Rich (2012), Wittig (2022), Berger (2002), Senra (1997), Gubernikoff (2016), among others. The methodology is divided into two main stages: theoretical research on gender, sexuality, cinema and journalism; and survey of US films that contain the figure of lesbian journalists. Such research is relevant to expose the erasure of lesbians in cinema, pointing out the harmful consequences for the acceptance and identification of this group in the social body.

A construção discursiva da deslegitimação feminina no jornalismo esportivo brasileiro: um estudo de caso sobre Renata Silveira

This study analyzes the discourses of delegitimization directed at sports commentator and narrator Renata Silveira in TikTok comments, aiming to understand how these manifestations contribute to the maintenance of gender inequalities in Brazilian sports journalism. The research is based on the premise that sports broadcasting has historically been associated with masculinity, making the presence of women in this field a target of symbolic and discursive resistance. This investigation adopts a qualitative-quantitative approach and is characterized as a case study. The corpus consists of approximately 500 comments collected from two videos included in the album “Goals I Narrated” (“Gols que eu narrei”), published on Renata Silveira’s official TikTok profile. The data were analyzed through frequency analysis and thematic discourse analysis, supported by the theoretical contributions of Judith Butler, Pierre Bourdieu, Heleieth Saffioti, Joan Scott, Raquel Recuero, and Michel Pêcheux. The findings indicate that, although supportive and legitimizing comments predominate numerically, there are still recurring discursive manifestations that challenge the narrator’s competence, authority, and legitimacy based on gender-related assumptions. The main strategies identified include attacks on the female voice, the use of humor as a mechanism of symbolic violence, conditional recognition of professional competence, and attempts to restrict women’s participation to socially prescribed spaces. The study concludes that the delegitimization observed is not primarily based on technical performance criteria, but rather on resistance to women occupying positions historically associated with men. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that TikTok functions as an environment that enables the circulation and amplification of discourses that reproduce and reinforce sexist structures present in Brazilian society, contributing to the maintenance of symbolic barriers to the full legitimacy of women in sports journalism.
Heroínas do cotidiano: memória, verdade e justiça nas trajetórias de mulheres potiguares na ditadura militar

This work presents the documentary Heroínas do Cotidiano: Memória, Verdade e Justiça nas trajetórias de mulheres potiguares na Ditadura Militar (Everyday Heroines: Memory, Truth and Justice in the trajectories of women from Rio Grande do Norte during the Military Dictatorship). The research addresses the invisibility of female resistance during the Brazilian Military Dictatorship (1964-1985), focusing on women from the state of Rio Grande do Norte whose partners were imprisoned or persecuted by the regime. The documentary rescues the stories of these women who, by assuming the leadership of their households and the pursuit of justice, configured a legitimate and politically relevant form of resistance, while facing human rights violations and social stigma. The work proposes a reflection on the historical erasure of these trajectories, articulating testimonies with the context of repression in the Brazilian state. The personal motivation of the author, inspired by the story of her grandmother, Eunice Lessa Machado, reinforces the urgency of giving voice to these "anonymous heroines" and recognizing female strength as a symbol of survival and resistance. For the elaboration of the project, a qualitative approach of exploratory and documentary nature was adopted. The methodology consisted of three fundamental stages: bibliographical and documentary research, oral history through interviews, and audiovisual production. Ultimately, the work seeks to ensure that these memories are preserved and that such barbarity is never repeated without proper accountability, reaffirming the role of journalism in the dispute over historical memory and in the preservation of human dignity.
A cobertura dos portais G1 e Metrópoles sobre o caso de duplo feminicídio no CEFET: o discurso da mídia que invisibiliza a tipificação do crime

This study analyzes the journalistic coverage of the G1 and Metrópoles portals regarding the double femicide followed by suicide that occurred at Cefet-RJ in November 2025. The objective is to identify the outlets' editorial strategies and verify whether the media discourse prioritized the gravity of the fact or contributed to a narrative of sensationalism and centering on the aggressor. Methodologically, a mixed and sequential qualitative-quantitative approach was adopted, analyzing 19 headlines published between November 28 and December 28, 2025. The theoretical framework articulates Traquina (2005), Entman (1993), and Marcondes Filho (1989) with feminist studies by Saffioti (2015), Segato (2003), Lagarde (2024), and Albuquerque Júnior (2010), Instituto Patrícia Galvão (2019), Lopes (2023), Serafim (2017), and Guimarães (2009). The results confirmed the four research hypotheses, revealing as a central finding the complete absence of the term "femicide" in all headlines. Both portals reproduce the symbolic erasure of gender violence and the silencing of institutional responsibilities.
Entre pixels e pautas: a cobertura jornalística de League Of Legends no jornalismo digital brasileiro pelo Mais Esports

This study analyzes the digital journalistic coverage of League of Legends in the Brazilian context, focusing on the Mais Esports website. The research understands e-sports as a media, cultural, and competitive phenomenon inserted in the transformations of digital journalism and cyberculture, while also addressing a brief history of electronic games and how the interactivity proposed by digital journalism supports interaction and the flow of information among audiences within cyberspace. The study seeks to understand how specialized journalism builds narratives about e-sports, how it contributes to their legitimization as a professional competitive practice, and how journalistic practice is directly connected to the construction of narratives that not only inform, but also connect e-sports fans. To achieve this objective, three Mais Esports reports were analyzed in order to identify the methods used in the construction of each news article, considering objective and interpretative categories such as textual structure, specialized language, hypertextuality, multimedia resources, interactivity, contextualization, and journalistic treatment of the modality. The methodology was divided into bibliographic analysis, content analysis, and opinion research. The results show that the website adopts a language aimed at audiences familiar with the gaming universe, uses resources typical of digital journalism, and presents e-sports as an organized competitive field. However, the coverage still explores the multimedia possibilities of the digital environment in a limited way. It is concluded that Mais Esports plays a significant role in the consolidation of specialized e-sports coverage in Brazil by bringing together journalistic information, gaming culture, and digital consumption practices.
Bora provar comigo: produção de reportagens verticais para o Instagram sobre restaurantes tradicionais de Natal/RN

This report refers to the experimental Final Graduation Project (TCC) in Journalism at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and aimed to produce vertical reports for Instagram about traditional restaurants in Natal/RN that value northeastern regional cuisine, with an emphasis on Potiguar gastronomy. The proposal understands that gastronomy constitutes an important element of cultural identity, capable of preserving traditions and memories. Thus, the study sought to understand how regional gastronomic culture manifests in these establishments and contributes to the appreciation of the theme through the production of audiovisual journalistic content broadcast on a digital platform. To carry out this work, a bibliographical research was developed on the concepts of gastronomy, cuisine, digital journalism, and vertical reporting, in addition to field research conducted at the participating restaurants. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the establishment owners in order to gather information about the trajectories and challenges faced throughout the restaurants' years of existence. As a result, four vertical reports were produced about the restaurants Casa de Taipa, U1000D Tião, Mané Restaurante, and Farol Bar, published on the profile @boraprovarcomigo, which was created to promote the project. Finally, the study shows how these traditional restaurants have the capacity to act as spaces for preserving the Potiguar cultural identity by maintaining regional recipes and stories that cross generations. Furthermore, it became evident the potential of vertical reports broadcast on digital social networks as a tool for the dissemination and appreciation of regional gastronomic culture.
Infância conectada: desafios à proteção dos direitos humanos de crianças e adolescentes no Tiktok

This study examines the challenges involved in protecting the human rights of children and adolescents in digital environments, focusing on the circulation of content on TikTok. The research draws on studies of human rights, freedom of expression, and the protection of children and adolescents, alongside discussions on the functioning of social media platforms, particularly regarding the algorithmic mediation of information. Methodologically, the study employs Discourse Analysis, based on the work of Eni Orlandi, to examine two TikTok videos and the interactions generated in their comment sections. The findings indicate that content related to the trivialization of school violence and the sexualization of adolescents may be amplified by the platform’s algorithmic dynamics, contributing to the normalization of potentially harmful behaviors and increasing situations of vulnerability. The study therefore highlights the need for further reflection on the impact of social media platforms on individuals in the process of development and on the challenges these environments pose to the effective protection of their rights.

This study analyzes the journalistic discourse of the G1 news portal during the peak of the September 2017 nuclear crisis between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). It investigates how the structure of a media outlet shaped by international capital and external corporate consulting limits or allows the construction of meanings regarding Korean sovereignty. Under the hypothesis that factual news erases essential historical determinations to favor US hegemony, the objective is to understand the discursive structuring of this conflict. Methodologically, the research is qualitative and exploratory-descriptive, grounded in the French-Brazilian Discourse Analysis (DA) framework (Pêcheux and Orlandi). The corpus consists of five autoral articles collected through advanced search operators. The analytical apparatus mobilizes categories such as production conditions, discursive formation, enunciation mechanisms, and the policy of silence. Results demonstrate that the portal operates as a Private Hegemonic Apparatus, creating a discursive asymmetry that delegitimizes the DPRK's right to self-defense while naturalizing Washington's force strategies. It concludes that the digital journalistic machinery, driven by demands for speed and instantaneity, acts in silencing historical memories and consolidating global political asymmetries, converting factual text into an ideological battlefield where images of civilization and barbarism are defined in the international arena.
Reza a lenda: fé, tradição e pertencimento na Festa de Sant'Ana em Currais Novos/RN

This course completion work is an experimental project composed of a photo-reportage and a technical report that explore the sociocultural meanings of the Feast of Sant'Ana in Currais Novos/RN. The main objective is to produce a photojournalistic record that demonstrates the role of the festivity in maintaining collective memory and consolidating Seridoense identity, documenting the human relationships and invisible mechanisms that sustain this secular tradition. For the theoretical framework, the research mobilized concepts of Literary Journalism (Pena, 2007; Castro, 2010), Humanized Journalism (Bortoli, 2016; Alves & Sebrian, 2008), as well as reflections on photography, memory, and the construction of imagined communities based on Sontag (2004), Anderson (2008), and Hobsbawm (2008). The methodology comprised bibliographic research, ethnographic immersion with participant observation, and the conducting of 19 interviews with diverse social actors, including devotees, workers, authorities, and historians. The visual recording was executed through documentary and ethnographic photography, integrating technique and sensitivity in the material's curation process. As a conclusion, the project highlights the Feast of Sant'Ana not only as a religious event but as a pact of belonging and cultural resistance that articulates the sacred and the profane, serving as a visual testimony to the history and identity of Currais Novos.
Jornalismo e inteligência artificial: uma análise do uso da IA pelos jornalistas da Tribuna do Norte, Agora RN e Novo Notícias

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is already a reality in newsrooms around the world. Against this backdrop, this study aims to analyze the applications of AI by journalists at the Natal-based newspapers Tribuna do Norte, Novo Notícias and Agora RN, guided by the following question: How do professionals at these media outlets use AI in their daily work? The theoretical framework is based on the contributions of Cruz and Santaella (2024) and Canavilhas (2023) regarding the uses of this technology in the journalistic context and draws on the concepts of artificial intelligence (Russell; Norvig, 2013; Nicolelis, 2023), automated journalism (Carlson, 2015), and AI-assisted journalism (Fernandes, 2025). To collect the data, individual semi-structured interviews (Duarte, 2005) were conducted with three journalist-editors from each publication. The material was analyzed using the technique of thematic content analysis systematized by Bardin (2011). The results indicated that journalists use artificial intelligence largely to perform repetitive tasks in their daily workflows, particularly during the newsgathering and production stages. Furthermore, AI has provided greater agility and productivity, allowing professionals to cope with the time pressures characteristic of journalistic work and to fulfill a multimedia role. It is concluded that artificial intelligence has been employed as a tool to assist journalistic work, creating a hybrid relationship between humans and technology.
