Master Thesis Abordagem baseada em jogos no tênis de mesa: impactos na tomada de decisão e na percepção de alunos no contexto escolar(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2026-02-09) Rodrigues, Saulo Emanuel Dias; Surdi, Aguinaldo Cesar; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7809-7266; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4385731894815932; Batista, Alison Pereira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5293-0993; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3140814720062433; Bertucci, Danilo; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9833-2390; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3322826077364643; Silva, Priscilla Pinto Costa da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1363896566076787; Baptista, Tadeu João Ribeiro; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5140-2032; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9002864045147738This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a Game-Based Approach (GBA) in developing the tactical behavior of students practicing table tennis in a school context, and to analyze student perceptions after 15 lessons using this approach. A mixed-methods research approach was adopted, combining quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative sample consisted of 10 students, while the qualitative stage involved 14 students in semi-structured interviews to capture their perceptions. The pedagogical intervention comprised a 15-lesson table tennis program adapted based on GBA principles and materials from the Segundo Tempo program, focusing on tactical problem-solving. Tactical performance was assessed using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) in pre- and post-intervention moments, allowing for the objective measurement of the Decision-Making Index (DMI) during the game. The quantitative results indicated an improvement in the students' Decision-Making Index (DMI) after the implementation of the GBA, although this improvement lacked statistical significance. These findings nonetheless demonstrate the effective development of tactical intelligence and problem-solving skills in table tennis. Complementarily, the qualitative analysis of the interviews corroborated the intervention's success, pointing to a noticeable increase in tactical understanding, motivation, and active involvement among the students. Student perceptions highlighted that the GBA made the learning process more meaningful, fun, and directly connected to real game situations, promoting reflection and autonomy. It is concluded that the Game-Based Approach is an effective and promising pedagogical alternative for teaching table tennis in the school environment. Its application favors the students' integral development, stimulating autonomy, reflection, and contextualized, tactical learning of the sport.Master Thesis O trabalho docente na educação física em escolas indígenas dos Povos Gavião da Terra Indígena Mãe Maria/PA(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-02-16) Carvalho, Pablo Freitas; Oliveira, Márcio Romeu Ribas de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2629-920X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0118293761427492; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9334-0730; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0968830768725335; Surdi, Aguinaldo Cesar; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; Araújo, Allyson Carvalho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0114-8122; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3443942683481696; Silva, Claudio Emidio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8134246434895801; Monteiro, Joelma Cristina Parente; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9860770961080508This study discusses Physical Education and Indigenous School Education, through the teaching work in state indigenous schools belonging to the Gavião people of the Mãe Maria Indigenous Land, located in the Southeast Mesoregion of the State of Pará. The general objective was to understand the teaching work of Physical Education teachers in indigenous schools of the Gavião people of the Mãe Maria Indigenous Land/PA, in view of the principles that underpin Indigenous School Education, namely, specific, differentiated, bilingual/multilingual, intercultural and community education. To compose the theoretical framework of this work, some authors were studied, among them are: Alencar (2007a, 2007b, 2020, 2023); Almeida (2008, 2010); Baniwa (2010, 2019); Daólio (1995a, 1995b, 2004); Grando (2004, 2010, 2021, 2022); Luciano (2011), Tardif and Lessard (2008); and Tardif (2014). An educational ethnography of the teaching practice of an indigenous Physical Education teacher and a non-indigenous Physical Education teacher was then carried out in two state indigenous schools belonging to the Gavião peoples of the Mãe Maria Indigenous Land/PA. To obtain the information for this study, the following techniques were used: bibliographic and documentary mapping on teaching work in Physical Education and on Indigenous School Education; semi-structured interviews with the research interlocutors; participant observation of a section of the daily teaching work of each interlocutor was also used, in addition to the analysis of the Political Pedagogical Projects of the two participating schools. The process of analyzing the set of information gathered was mediated by the triangulation technique, following the guidelines of Molina Neto (2004). Among the syntheses of interpretation of the information collected, it was possible to identify that the teaching practice in Physical Education, both of the indigenous teacher and of the non-indigenous teacher, is guided by the principles that underpin Indigenous School Education, and the difference between the teaching work of both is in the ethnic consciousness that the indigenous teacher has, as she is ethnically belonging to the community in which she works, this being the difference and the main factor that positively impacts her work. It is hoped that the present study can support reflections in Physical Education that increasingly recognize the protagonism and autonomy of the different indigenous peoples, their ancestral knowledge and wisdom, and their symbolically, culturally, and spiritually differentiated bodily practices, as well as their social and historical processes that mark their daily lives today.Master Thesis Impacto de um programa interdisciplinar na composição corporal e marcadores clínicos em crianças com obesidade(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-12-09) Dias, Dayene Cardozo Brito; Oliveira, Ricardo Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5211091859010943; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8403729745350025; Elsangedy, Hassan Mohamed; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3786-4999; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7777329239184430; Galliano, Leony Morgana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1149305957306966; Leite, Neiva; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4752-6697; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2859135226816622; Dumith, Samuel de Carvalho; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5994-735X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4822268815531191Master Thesis Uma fenomenologia do corpo na educação física brasileira(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-12-17) Fernandes, Bruno Erick de Melo; Medeiros, Rosie Marie Nascimento de; Nóbrega, Terezinha Petrucia da; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1996-4286; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6743881635494941; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4739820420408872; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0722598377837732; Mendes, Maria Isabel Brandão de Souza; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9648-0007; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6831555305550834; Viana, Raimundo Nonato Assunção; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6145-4714; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2070306377562824; Saura, Soraia ChungThis dissertation examines the production of knowledge concerning the body through a phenomenological lens, analyzing works presented in the Thematic Working Group on Body and Culture (GTTCC) of the Brazilian Congress of Sport Sciences (Conbrace) between 2015 and 2023. It operates on the premise that the body transcends biological and instrumental dimensions, constituting itself as an experiential, culturally and symbolically situated reality. Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology provides a fundamental theoretical and methodological framework for understanding the body as a subject of experience. The research, anchored in the phenomenological method, mapped and analyzed the selected works through description, reduction, interpretation, and comprehension, delineating three units of meaning body, expression, and culture aesthetically articulated through Newton Navarro's artwork Vento Nordeste, which functioned as a phenomenological device. The first chapter establishes the epistemological foundation of the investigation, engaging in dialogue with Bachelard, Popper, Merleau-Ponty, and Morin. It critiques Cartesian rationalism and scientific determinism, proposing a non-Cartesian epistemology that values imagination, subjectivity, and sensory experience as constitutive dimensions of knowledge. Bachelard provides the basis for a science open to the sensible and the poetic, while Merleau-Ponty emphasizes the lived body as a medium for accessing the world, thereby substantiating the advocacy for a "new educational spirit" in Physical Education that integrates reason and sensibility. The second chapter presents a phenomenological cartography of the examined production. The unit on the body addresses experiences such as pilgrimages, yoga, and artistic expressions, revealing the body as a field of meaning, memory, and subjectivity. The unit on expression focuses on manifestations such as dance, circus, and capoeira, understanding gesture as language and the production of pre-verbal meaning. The unit on culture examines corporeality in contexts such as quilombo traditions and martial practices, highlighting it as a locus of memory, identity, and belonging. The analysis identifies a predominance of researchers from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), a national distribution of the production, and a recurrent vocabulary centered on terms such as lived body, intercorporeality, and being-in-the-world, alongside a methodological combination of phenomenology with ethnography, art, and discourse analysis. The concluding considerations reaffirm the potency of phenomenology to reimagine Physical Education as a sensitive, ethical, and political field. By valuing lived experience and the diversity of knowledge, this approach overcomes reductionist perspectives, repositioning the body as the origin of meaning and relation to the world. The proposed reinvention entails re-signifying traditional practices through a logic that integrates rigor and imagination, technique and poetics, concluding with the urgency of a Physical Education committed to listening to differences and to epistemic justice, in which the lived body remains an inexhaustible source of knowledge and transformation.Master Thesis Formação continuada para professoras e professores de educação física: desafios e possibilidades com alunos com deficiência nas aulas de natação(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-09-12) Silva, Wiltembergue de Sales e; Dias, Maria Aparecida; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3644-604X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1131977255034974; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4936495045139558; Surdi, Aguinaldo César; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7809-7266; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; Dantas, Paulo Moreira Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0392766010188739; Fonseca, Michele Pereira de Souza da; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0355-2524; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3628782671116228; Silva, Hudday Mendes da; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1492-2404; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6378381829037997The present study aims to broaden the discussion on inclusive practices in swimming instruction. To this end, the general objective was to present the development of a continuing education program focused on inclusive practices in swimming classes. The specific objectives were: a) to discuss the challenges and possibilities in mediating inclusive pedagogical practices; b) to enable the construction and adaptation of pedagogical materials that promote the participation of people with disabilities in swimming classes; and c) to provide practical swimming experiences within an inclusive context.Regarding the methodological approach, a critical-collaborative action research design was adopted, based on Thiollent (2011). Data were collected through field diaries and questionnaires containing both open- and closed-ended questions, throughout the training program. Data analysis was guided by the content analysis technique proposed by Bardin (2009). The training intervention was structured in the following stages: a) mapping of swimming instructors; b) invitation to participate in the study; c) diagnostic analysis and planning of the training proposal; d) execution of ten in-person sessions with both theoretical and practical activities, including in-pool practice; e) development of inclusive pedagogical materials; and f) processing and interpretation of the collected data. The results revealed a lack of specific training for swimming instruction, a gap that becomes even more pronounced when it comes to inclusive practices. A desire for change among participants was observed after the training, accompanied by an expanded understanding of the concept of inclusion. It was also found that knowledge about disability, comprehension of inclusion concepts, and critical reflection on everyday pedagogical practice are fundamental for the development of more inclusive practices. The gaps identified in both initial and continuing teacher education reinforce the need to broaden discussions on Inclusive Physical Education.Master Thesis Significados e experiências de lazer no contexto da prática do skate vivenciada por jovens na cidade de Natal/RN/Brasil(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-09-19) Lucena, Matheus Dantas de; Silva, Priscilla Pinto Costa da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1363896566076787; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1332955824953366; Figueiredo, Juliana de Paula; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7767131349980665; Mendes, Maria Isabel Brandão de Souza; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9648-0007; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6831555305550834Leisure and skateboarding have the potential to shape the social identities of many young people, encompassing aspects such as pleasure, autonomy, sociability, and belonging. Considering the city of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte (RN), this research reveals how the meanings and experiences of leisure in skateboarding are permeated by various specificities. Thus, the overall objective of this research was to understand the meanings and experiences of leisure in the context of skateboarding practices experienced by young people in public leisure spaces in Natal, RN. This study is characterized as field research. A descriptive research with a qualitative approach was used. The investigated group consisted of thirty (30) social actors between 18 and 29 years of age, who experience the practice of skateboarding in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, in at least one of the four public leisure spaces listed for the research, including squares and sports courts in different regions of the city. A semi-structured interview and a questionnaire were used as instruments. The interview consisted of eleven (11) questions addressing the research objectives, and the questionnaire consisted of fourteen (14) questions, aiming to outline the participants' profile. Data interpretation was performed through Bardin's (2016) categorical analysis. The general categories created were: skate spots and skaters' relationship with Natal's urban space; leisure experiences while skateboarding; meanings, sensations, and lifestyles in the construction of skaters' identities. The conclusion is that risk-taking plays an important role in the construction of young skaters' identities; it's a way to break down barriers, strengthen bonds of belonging, and consolidate identities. For many young people, skateboarding represents a form of expression. It's a way to protest norms, a fight against prejudice, a way to explore creativity, and to exercise their right to the city and leisure. These are life perspectives for each individual. In other words, identities, which are plural, are incorporated into each skater as a form of belonging, through experiences, values, and references.Master Thesis Influência do processo de perda rápida de peso no padrão de sono em atletas de artes marciais mistas(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-11-28) Freitas, Francisco José Pinto de; Mortatti, Arnaldo Luís; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2948816921491767; https://orcid.org/0009-0004-9712-4284; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0282398082632298; Barbosa, Bruno Teixeira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2654-6453; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5089149703120607; Machado, Daniel Gomes da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8426-0488; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5106573503876000; Araújo, John Fontenele; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8022-2425; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3347815035685882; Oliveira, Ricardo Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5211091859010943Introduction: Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) often involves rapid weight loss (RWL) to meet competitive weight categories. This practice, based on caloric restriction and acute dehydration, can negatively affect sleep, which is essential for recovery and performance. Objective: To analyze the effects of RWL on sleep patterns in professional MMA athletes during official competitive events. Methods: An observational and longitudinal study was conducted with eight male professional athletes. Sleep was monitored using actigraphy for 15 consecutive days, covering four phases: baseline (M1), training intensification (M2), rapid weight loss (M3), and postweigh-in recovery (M4). Body composition (DXA), hydration (bioimpedance), dietary intake (3-day food record and 24-hour recall), daytime sleepiness (Epworth), and stress (DALDA) were also assessed. Data were analyzed using Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE) with α = 0.05. Results: A significant reduction in total sleep time was observed during RWL (M3) compared to baseline (p < 0.05), accompanied by decreases in caloric intake and total body water. Although sleep and hydration improved during recovery (M4), they did not return to baseline levels. Daytime sleepiness remained above the clinical cutoff point (≥10) in M3 and M4, indicating residual fatigue. Conclusion: Rapid weight loss impairs sleep duration and quality in MMA athletes, an effect associated with energy restriction and dehydration. These findings highlight the need for safer and evidence-based weight management strategies.Master Thesis Efeito do aconselhamento para a prática de atividade física sobre o nível de atividade física e comportamento sedentário em pessoas fisicamente inativas: protocolo de estudo para um ensaio clínico randomizado(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-03-18) Lima, Bruna Perez Costa; Elsangedy, Hassan Mohamed; Oliveira, Gledson Tavares de Amorim; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7626-7324; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8753515239330619; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7777329239184430; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6307366984389442; Galliano, Leony Morgana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1149305957306966; Oliveira, Ricardo Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5211091859010943; Matias, ThiagoPhysical Activity Promotion Counseling (PAPC) is widely used in Primary Health Care (PHC) and has shown promising results. However, there is a lack of research on the combined application of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to increase physical activity (PA) and reduce sedentary behavior (SB), considering different intervention intensities. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to describe the protocol of a randomized clinical trial that will assess the impact of CPPA on PA and SB among physically inactive individuals. According to the study design, 183 apparently healthy adult participants aged 18–59 years who have not been engaging in physical exercise for over 6 months will be recruited. These participants will be randomly assigned to three groups (a control group and two experimental groups with higher and lower intensity interventions). The more intensive group will participate in a face-to-face session, receive a booklet on PA, take part in three remote sessions over three months, and receive personalized messages to strengthen engagement and monitor behavioral changes throughout the intervention. The less intensive group will only attend one face-to-face session and receive a PA booklet. The control group will only undergo behavioral assessments and will not participate in the counseling flow. Assessments will take place at baseline and after three months. PA and SB levels will be measured using accelerometers, while explicit attitudes, motivational regulation, and satisfaction of psychological needs will be assessed through questionnaires. Group-by-time, time, and group effects will be analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc tests. Analyses will be conducted using SPSS version 29.0, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. This study will contribute to understanding the impact of CPPA, considering motivational approaches and varying intensities of intervention.Master Thesis Efeito da Fadiga Mental sobre os aspectos cognitivos e físicos em jovens atletas escolares(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-08-28) Medeiros, Mateus Freitas de; Cabral, Breno Guilherme de Araújo Tinôco; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9966-9956; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8399135324397066; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4017-7997; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7842508042840907; Machado, Daniel Gomes da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8426-0488; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5106573503876000; Dantas, Paulo Moreira Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0392766010188739; Martins, Felipe José Aidar; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7378-4529; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5028490596614971; Souza, Francisco Emilio Simplicio de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6323002590947864INTRODUCTION: Several studies have shown that excessive smartphone use has impacted daily life, especially among young people, causing psychocognitive impairments, such as mental fatigue (MF). In the sports context, MF has been observed to impair essential executive functions, such as inhibitory control and decision-making. With regard to physical performance, its effect on aerobic activities is well understood; however, in anaerobic tasks, there is still a lack of consensus, especially among young school athletes. OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to investigate the impact of mental fatigue induced by social media on cognitive and physical aspects in young futsal athletes. METHODOLOGY: Randomized crossover clinical trial with 16 male school athletes aged between 13 and 16 years. Participants underwent two conditions: in the control condition, they watched 40 minutes of a neutral documentary; and in the intervention condition, they used their preferred social media for 40 minutes without interruption. The subjects were evaluated in terms of anthropometric aspects, biological maturation (BM), sleep quality (Pittsburgh questionnaire), mental fatigue (visual analog scale [VAS]), and cognitive performance (Stroop Test). Regarding physical performance assessment, the RAST Test anaerobic performance protocol and Borg's 6-20 subjective perception of exertion (SPE) scale were used. RESULTS: Subjects exposed to 40 minutes of social media showed higher mental fatigue scores compared to the control condition (effect size: -0.750; power: 0.905). Regarding the Stroop test, the number of errors in the incongruent phase was lower in the control condition, while the number of correct answers was higher compared to the experimental condition (p = 0.044; power = 0.928/0.999). In addition, in the control condition, individuals had a shorter total reaction time (better performance) compared to the experimental condition (p = 0.044; power = 0.942). However, in relation to physical performance, there was no significant correlation between mental fatigue and anaerobic performance in any of the variables analyzed (p = 0.719; power = 0.065; p = 0.499; power = 0.106; p = 0.303; power = 0.187; p = 0.568; power = 0.089). CONCLUSION: It is concluded that 40 minutes of social media use on smartphones can induce mental fatigue in young futsal athletes, impairing cognitive aspects such as inhibitory control (attention and concentration) and reaction time, which can negatively affect athletic performance. However, there was no significant correlation between cognitive overload and anaerobic performance.Master Thesis A saúde na produção de conhecimento sobre futebol feminino(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2022-12-22) Felix, Iolanda Fonseca; Mendes, Maria Isabel Brandão de Souza; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9648-0007; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6831555305550834; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2079029433715323; Silva, Priscilla Pinto Costa da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1363896566076787; Medeiros, Rosie Marie Nascimento de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4739820420408872; Santos, Ana Raquel Mendes dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3436-3622; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8811081041067973; Silva, Luiz Arthur Nunes da; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4541-6141; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9086076766929704Football is the most practiced sport in the world, and consequently it is also the sport that has the most scientific productions on. For decades football was considered an exclusively male sport, however with the evolution of sports and society, women began to practice it, knowing that there are some differences between health and sport, this work sought to analyze the theme of health in women's soccer productions available in the CAPES database (The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), Scielo e Virtual Health Library (BVS) published between the years 2000 and 2021. With this, this research adopted the bibliographic review as a methodology to be followed. Initially, 31 articles were selected, after reading and analyzing each title and abstract, 9 articles were chosen. The articles were conjured up in 2 tables that described the title, abstract, references, authors and brief concept of health. With this, few articles were found that dealt with the issue of health in women's football and the few conceptions that were exposed, most are very succinct and limited to old concepts, which need to be overcome for a better development and understanding of health and sport.Master Thesis Influência do exercício de sprint repetido na morfologia dos leucócitos em atletas adolescentes com diferentes níveis de maturação biológica(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-08-28) Oliveira, Fernanda Cristina Silva de; Dantas, Paulo Moreira Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0392766010188739; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8686768841769332; Mortatti, Arnaldo Luis; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2948816921491767; Cabral, Breno Guilherme de Araújo Tinoco; Martins, Felipe José Aidar; Souza, Francisco Emilio Simplicio deExercise immunology seeks to elucidate how different training sessions modulate the immune system of athletes across various age groups. In intermittent sports, such as basketball and soccer, athletes commonly incorporate repeated-sprint exercise (RSE) into their physical conditioning routines. RSE is characterized by high physiological demands and may trigger systemic inflammation, which in turn alters the body’s immune responses. It is important to highlight that, even among pediatric athletes of the same chronological age, stages of biological maturation may vary considerably. In this context, the present study aimed to investigate the influence of repeated-sprint exercise on the leukocyte morphology of pediatric athletes, considering different rates of biological maturation, as assessed by skeletal age. To this end, the study comprised two scientific articles: a scoping review and an experimental trial. The purpose of the scoping review was to gather scientific evidence on exercise immunology in youth athletes, considering its interaction with the process of biological maturation. In the experimental phase, 21 male pediatric athletes participated in a repeated-sprint exercise (supramaximal sprints, 3 × 6, with 5 minutes of rest between sets and 10 seconds of recovery between sprints). Biological maturation was assessed through skeletal age. Peripheral blood samples were collected before, immediately after, and two hours following the RSE session. Leukocyte morphology was analyzed by optical microscopy, and the leukogram was assessed by automated cell counting. Findings from the literature review indicated that acute exercise induces transient alterations in the immune system, such as increased counts of leukocytes, lymphocytes, and NK cells immediately after exercise, followed by normalization during the recovery phase. Biological maturation proved to be a determining factor, as immune responses such as increased neutrophil levels, reduced lymphocyte counts, and alterations in NK cells were more pronounced in postpubertal individuals than in pre-pubertal ones. The results of the experimental trial indicated that individuals with a synchronized biological maturation (BM) pace exhibited higher levels of total leukocytes and segmented neutrophils immediately after and 2 hours following repeated sprint exercise (RSE), compared with their peers with an accelerated BM pace (p < 0.05). Up to 2 hours after RSE, in the synchronized BM group, systemic inflammation assessed through the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was 50% higher compared with the pre-RSE measurement (p < 0.05). In the accelerated BM group, a 20% increase in NLR was observed 2 hours after RSE compared with pre-exercise values (p < 0.05). In the sub-analyses, the type of sport did not show a significant effect on total leukocyte levels (η²p < 0.10; p > 0.05). No significant differences were observed between the types of sport practiced with respect to the other analyzed variables (η²p < 0.13; p > 0.05). These findings allow us to conclude that the influence of repeated sprint exercise on leukocyte morphology in pediatric athletes depends on the pace of biological maturation. Regarding our review, it was found that post-pubertal adolescents exhibit more pronounced immune responses to exercise, such as increased neutrophil levels and NK cell activation, when compared with pre-pubertal individuals, underscoring the importance of biological maturation as a determining factor in immune modulation during physical exertion. It was evidenced that high-intensity exercise induces more pronounced acute immune responses than continuous and moderate exercise, and that carbohydrate supplementation during exercise is capable of attenuating the inflammatory response and the mobilization of NK cells, suggesting a valuable nutritional strategy to modulate the immune response to training-induced stress.Master Thesis Entre a vigilância e o uso pedagógico: hackeando as tecnologias de saúde para um uso crítico no ensino médio integrado(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-07-31) Fernandes, Laura Viana; Araújo, Allyson Carvalho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0114-8122; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3443942683481696; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0253382496415736; Surdi, Aguinaldo César; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7809-7266; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; Oliveira, Marcio Romeu Ribas de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2629-920X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0118293761427492; Oliveira, Braulio Nogueira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6972021620191039; Santos, Silvan Menezes dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8250-5891; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2939008930884704The intersections of health technologies with the Culture of Movement have become increasingly evident, demonstrating the need to build a solid pedagogy that guides their inclusion in Physical Education at school. With the aim of problematizing the use of fitness applications by high school students, with the aim of promoting a critical education on the topic of health mediated by technological devices and applications, the research adopted a qualitative approach and a case study in a pedagogical intervention at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte, Parnamirim campus. With 80 students, the intervention followed two classes of the 4th year of the Informatics course of the Integrated High School, in the morning and afternoon shifts, which contributed to answering the question of how to use health technologies in a critical and pedagogical way in Physical Education at school, anchoring itself in the hacker culture and media education to develop application projects from a broader perspective of health. The projects demonstrated that there are different ways of thinking about health through the diversity and plurality of students. Thus, we analyzed in which aspects they moved away from or closer to the fitness discourse and how inspiration from hacker culture allowed us to think about the counterflow of fitness imperatives to recreate them from a critical point of view.Master Thesis Capacitismo & redes sociais: narrativas digitais e possibilidades para a aprendizagem social na educação física escolar(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-07-31) Xavier, Kesia da Silva; Araújo, Allyson Carvalho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0114-8122; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3443942683481696; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2507523134338082; Surdi, Aguinaldo César; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7809-7266; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2452504102904189; Oliveira, Braulio Nogueira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6972021620191039; Oliveira, Marcio Romeu Ribas de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2629-920X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0118293761427492; Santos, Silvan Menezes dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8250-5891; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2939008930884704Technologies, media and, consequently, social media play a central role in connecting individuals, not only as tools but also as means of transforming language and behavior, fitting into what is understood as digital culture. In this context, the present study aimed to understand the potential and limitations of narrative production on social media as an artifact of social learning in Physical Education, focusing on the themes of disability, inclusion, and ableism. To this end, a qualitative case study was conducted, with the objective of reflecting on the ways ableism is discussed on social media and understanding the forms of digital narratives about ableism on Instagram. The study was carried out with four second-year high school classes at IFRN – Parnamirim Campus, located in Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Over nine sessions, students were engaged in a proposal to investigate ableism on social media, as well as to produce narratives based on their experiences with adapted sports such as Paralympic athletics, Goalball, blind football and sitting volleyball. At the end of the project, it was observed that students produced narratives about disability and ableism, drawing on various elements characteristic of social networks, such as linguistic features, interaction tools and customization resources. These productions encouraged reflections on the potential of these environments as spaces for dissemination, awareness and education about disability. In addition, students developed narratives that highlighted the protagonism of people with disabilities, discussed ableism in the context of sports and explored social media as platforms for dissemination and learning about ableism.Master Thesis Efeito de diferentes intensidades da estimulação transcraniana por corrente contínua na hemodinâmica cerebral, desempenho cognitivo, respostas psicofisiológicas e endurance em ciclistas treinados e seus possíveis preditores(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-08-26) Silva, Everton Borges da; Machado, Daniel Gomes da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8426-0488; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5106573503876000; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1144144534821882; Mortatti, Arnaldo Luis; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2948816921491767; Borges, UirassuIntroduction: Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) may modulate neural activity and enhance performance, but findings in the literature remain inconsistent, possibly due to current intensity limitations. Studies suggest that higher intensities could induce more significant and consistent neuromodulatory effects, though this has not yet been experimentally tested. Therefore, we aim to evaluate the effects of tDCS at different intensities applied to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) on cerebral hemodynamics, cognitive and endurance performance, and psychophysiological responses in trained cyclists. Methods: Eighteen trained male cyclists (36.0 ± 8.52 years old; 8.53 ± 5.94 years of cycling experience; 10.83 ± 3.03 training hours/week; maximum oxygen uptake 58.82 ± 8.16 ml·kg⁻¹·min⁻¹; peak power 301.89 ± 44.49 watts) underwent a maximal incremental test and three 20-km time trials (TT-20km). Before the TT-20km, participants received randomized and counterbalanced tDCS at 2 mA, 4 mA, or sham (placebo). Before tDCS, after tDCS, and after the TT-20km, participants were assessed for cerebral hemodynamics using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and cognitive performance (Stroop test). During the TT-20km, performance parameters (power, cadence, time), heart rate (HR), and cerebral hemodynamics were continuously monitored, and participants reported psychophysiological responses [rating of perceived exertion (RPE), affective response, and arousal] every 4 km. Data were analyzed using Generalized Mixed Models (GMM) with Bonferroni post hoc tests and Spearman correlation coefficient. Significance was set at p<0.05. Results: Sensations and perceptions related to tDCS did not differ between conditions, indicating effective blinding. There was no effect of tDCS on cognitive performance or resting cerebral hemodynamics (all ps >0.05). However, tDCS at 2 mA resulted in higher mean power and shorter time in the TT-20km compared to sham (ps<0.001) and 4 mA (ps<0.05), with no difference between 4 mA and sham (ps>0.15). During the TT-20km, no differences were found between experimental conditions for HR, cerebral hemodynamics, RPE, affective response, or arousal (ps>0.05). The change in power with 2 mA was correlated only with baseline cognitive performance for congruent (ρ = 0.73; p = 0.025) and incongruent stimuli (ρ = 0.75; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that tDCS over the DLPFC at 2 mA, but not 4 mA, may improve endurance performance in trained cyclists, even without changes in cerebral hemodynamics, cognitive performance, or psychophysiological responses. Moreover, baseline cognitive performance could be a predictor of the effect. These findings indicate that there may be an optimal intensity for tDCS to exert its neuromodulatory effects.Master Thesis O efeito sobre as AVD's, força e composição corporal em pessoas com deficiência intelectual submetidas ao treinamento concorrente(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2019-07-26) Silva, Felipe Veloso da; Dantas, Paulo Moreira Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0392766010188739; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1167265847659472; Dias, Maria Aparecida; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3644-604X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1131977255034974; Medeiros, Humberto Jefferson de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1155595256268084; Knackfuss, Maria Irany; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4225-4901; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8414353396087915; Medeiros, Radamés Maciel Vitor; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0811-2851; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9404327140616843People with intellectual disabilities (ID) have learning difficulties, heart problems, diabetes, obesity and musculoskeletal disorders. In addition, more than 66% of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) have lower limb problems, hypotonia and ligament laxity, which can influence daily life. The objective is to verify the effect of concurrent training on Avd's (activities of daily living), strength and body composition in people with intellectual disability (ID). Twenty individuals aged 17 to 37 years were evaluated, 13 men and 07 women, all of whom underwent 12 weeks of concurrent training (resistance training and aerobic activity), 2 times a week on alternate days. In order to evaluate the Avd's, the people in charge would do an analysis at home in the routine of the individuals and produce a biweekly report. The force measurements were evaluated through the tests (manual hold, sit and raise, adapted abdominal and isometric strength of upper membors). The components of body composition and bone density were evaluated using dual energy X-ray densitometry (DXA) equipment. Descriptive statistics were used with individualized values for body composition and strength tests. In order to compare the effect of the intervention on the variables, the paired student t tests (parametric variables) and the U de Mann-Whitney test (non-parametric variables) were performed. The variation between the mean values was presented by the change delta through the following equation: Δ = ((Post / Pre) -1). The main finding of this study is that concurrent training may constitute an effective strategy for the improvement and / or maintenance of body composition, bone mineral density, improvement of strength levels and daily activities of people with intellectual disabilities.Master Thesis Associação conjunta entre atividade física, tempo de tela e transtorno mental comum em adolescentes brasileiros(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-04-04) Mendes, Túlio Chaves; Cureau, Felipe Vogt; Oliveira, Ricardo Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7255-9717; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0424285939336536; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1182765634413397; Santos, Débora França dos; Christófaro, Diego Giulliano Destro; Elsangedy, Hassan MohamedIntroduction: common mental disorders (CMD), such as symptoms of anxiety, depression, and somatic complaints, have been increasing, particularly among young people, impacting their health. Physical activity has been associated with a reduction in CMD, whereas excessive screen time has been linked to worsening of these symptoms. Objective: to analyze the joint association between physical activity, screen time, and CMD among Brazilian adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, considering a dose-response gradient. Methods: Data were obtained from the Study of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Adolescents (ERICA), a multicenter crosssectional study conducted between 2013 and 2014 with adolescents from public and private schools in Brazilian municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Physical activity was assessed using a questionnaire on moderate to vigorous physical activities, and screen time was quantified through a questionnaire on daily hours spent using computers, watching television, and playing video games. The occurrence of CMD was measured by the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12). Poisson regression models with robust variance stratified by sex were used in the analyses. Results: a total of 65,048 adolescents were evaluated, with a mean age of 14.7 years. The prevalence of CMD was 16.9% higher among girls. Excessive screen time (≥ 6 hours/day) was positively associated with CMD in adjusted analyses, both in girls (PR: 1.60; 95% CI: 1.44–1.79) and in boys (PR: 1.40; 95% CI: 1.15–1.72). Regarding physical activity, a U-shaped association between physical activity and CMD was observed, with greater protection among boys. In the joint associations of physical activity and screen time with CMD, not engaging in physical activity (0 min/day) combined with excessive screen time (≥ 6 hours/day) resulted in prevalence ratios 46% and 72% higher among girls and boys, respectively. In the stratified analysis, an attenuation in the association between screen time and CMD was observed according to the level of physical activity among boys. Conclusion: this study observed that engaging in physical activity and limiting screen time are associated with a lower prevalence of CMD among Brazilian adolescents. Public policies aimed at promoting healthy behaviors may have an impact on adolescent mental health.Master Thesis Experiências didático-pedagógicas no ensino de conteúdos relacionados aos aspectos históricos e socioculturais afro-diaspóricos nas aulas de educação física em contexto pandêmico(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2022-12-01) Costa, Rafaella Bôto Ferreira; Sanches Neto, Luiz; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9143-8048; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4771375507167549; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2959007581878609; Araújo, Allyson Carvalho de; Venâncio, Luciana; Souza, Mauricio Teodoro de; Silva, Luciana Maria FernandesMaster Thesis Ensino de karatê para pessoas com deficiência visual: reflexões a partir da (auto)biografia(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-02-26) Lucena, Anderson Rodrigues Araújo de; Araújo, Allyson Carvalho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0114-8122; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3443942683481696; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1151300530390450; Surdi, Aguinaldo César; Dias, Maria Aparecida; Fonseca, Michele Pereira de Souza daThis study presents a critical-reflective narrative constructed through the process of the author's (auto)biography as a teacher with 15 years of experience teaching karate to people with visual impairments at the Institute for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind of Rio Grande do Norte. The aim is to reflect on the core of personal and professional self-development. By using (auto)biography, the author contextualizes his teaching approach based on his experiences as an individual in social contact with people with disabilities, as a martial artist with over 26 years of practice, and as an academic. This allows him to reflect on themes such as inclusion and exclusion, ableism, and the necessary adaptations teachers must make in the practice and teaching of karate to people with disabilities. More than simply reporting how to teach, this study seeks to understand the elements that shape the formation of a karate teacher and to draw connections with aspects of inclusive education. To shed light on the discussion, the author engages in a dialogue between Eastern and Western knowledge systems, using lenses such as the philosophical precepts of Traditional Shotokan Karate, the concept of Teacher Knowledge in Tardif, and the Pedagogy of Paulo Freire.Master Thesis O corpo no nado artístico: um compasso da técnica, estética arte na fenomenologia de Merleau-Ponty(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-01-28) Melo, Mércia Lima de; Medeiros, Rosie Marie Nascimento de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3984-0720; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4739820420408872; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5417-6736; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8181281285167309; Costa, Hosana Cláudia Matias da; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5052-4978; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9985962116693871; Silva, Luiz Arthur Nunes da; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4541-6141; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9086076766929704; Mendes, Maria Isabel Brandão de Souza; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9648-0007; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6831555305550834; Silva, Priscilla Pinto Costa da; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6200-5614; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1363896566076787To think about the movement of the body in water is to admire the strength of this body in life. In this sense, our study is a research guided by the qualitative approach, with a crosssection of the studied population, analyzed, in the methodological process, by MerleauPonty's phenomenology. The study has as its general objective to discuss the conceptions of the athletes of Artistic Swimming in order to expand the meanings of the body in this sport for Physical Education. Its specific objectives are: to understand the conceptions of the athletes of Artistic Swimming about the body; to understand the technical, aesthetic and artistic meanings of the body in Artistic Swimming; and to highlight how the performances of Artistic Swimming can expand the knowledge of the body for Physical Education. The participants of the research were the athletes of the Senior category of a traditional sports club in Brazil. Data collection was carried out through interviews and observation. Data analysis occurred through description, reduction and interpretation of the phenomenon studied. From this perspective, the body and artistic swimming were interpreted as singular senses and meanings are created about them, involving the understanding of significant registers and the search for the delimitation of nuclei of meanings in the interpretation of gestures, physiognomies and intersubjective understandings in the light of the phenomenology of perception. The athletes' conceptions about the body: they reproduced the mind-body dichotomy as an instrument constantly polished and perfected through physical and mental training; as well as a support for the construction of performances, trained to the rigor of the rules/norms and to the other's gaze. Regarding the technical, aesthetic and artistic senses of the body, the following stand out: perception, revealed in feelings and sensations both in and out of the water, an environment that brings peace and, at the same time, tensions, challenges, doubts, ecstasy and frustrations; intentionality, in the choreographic constructions, in the subjectivity of the subjects who perform each gesture during the performance; and expressiveness, in the choreographic act itself, in the communicative execution, in the dialogue between body and art. Thus, these elements were relevant to broaden conceptions about the body for Physical Education, without disregarding the contexts of motor skills, competitiveness and creativity of the athletes themselves. Thus, we recommend investigations that contemplate a sensitive look at the theme, usually treated under a reductionist view of the body.
