Bachelor Thesis Condicionantes naturais e distribuição espacial das economias fundantes do Rio Grande do Norte: sucrocultura e pecuária nos séculos XVII e XVIII(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2016-12-08) Diniz, Marco Túlio Mendonça; Medeiros, Diogo Bernardino Santos de; Oliveira, George Pereira de; Diniz, Marco Túlio Mendonça; Diniz, Marco Túlio Mendonça; Vital, Saulo Roberto de Oliveira; Silva, Sandro Damião Ribeiro daThe brazilian colonial territory had its formation anchored by economic exploitation of the natural environment. By realising that there is a straight connection between the economic practices and the physical conditions of the natural environment, it is aimed with this research to comprehend and demonstrate the influence of the natural conditions on the development of the founding economic activities of Rio Grande do Norte state territory. This study gave emphasis to the first two economic cycles that motivated the ocupation of this territory, namely sugar cane agriculture and cattle raising. Thus, a review of the literature was conducted on these economic cycles and their consequences on the territorial production. Soon after, it attempts to understand the natural conditions of the area, specially the climatology of the state. Finally, when comparing the climatic aptitude, through the results of the Water Balance, of the most productive regions of sugar cane with Natal’s, it was concluded that the Captaincy of Rio Grande had insufficient natural conditions to the development of sugar cane agriculture at low technical level, unlike the other captaincies of Eastern Northeast, being this the main reason that led to its late occupation. Under these circumstances, there was the emergence of another economic activity that was initially developed as an alternative to that one. Cattle raising achieved great progress in the countryside, of semi-arid climate, since this region was appropriately distant from the coast (sugar cane area) and had large areas with sparse vegetation, which provided its extensive execution next to drainage canals.Bachelor Thesis Estimativas de impactos da elevação do nível do mar em 2100 na zona urbana de Caiçara do Norte/RN(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2016-11-23) Silva, Jucielho Pedro da; Azevêdo, Júlia Maria Medeiros de; Diniz, Marco Túlio Mendonça; Diniz, Marco Túlio Mendonça; Vitor Hugo Campelo Pereira; Costa, Diógenes Félix Da Silva; Vital, Saulo Roberto de Oliveira; Pereira, Vitor Hugo CampeloThis article brings up an issue that has been discussed worldwide: sea level rise. This phenomenon occurs so naturally observed in longer time scale, however from 1750, a period considered preindustrial, the man began to contribute to global climate change through the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), and thus changing the global temperature which results in accelerating the in sea level rise. Thus the objective of this research is through geoprocessing and GIS, using as a basis the models of the IPCC AR5 forecasts, show the possible areas affected by rising sea level in parts of the urban area of North Caiçara - Rio Grande do Norte for the year 2100, and thus provide support to decision makers responsible for the region. For this we used bibliographical research, technical advanced geoprocessing and handling equipment and state-of softwere such as Estação Total FOIF model OTS 680 and ArcGis 10.3 respectively.
