At the beginning of the 2025 school year, teacher Rozana Ramos, originally from the state of Amapá, shared with the children of the 3rd Grade Morning Class at NEI-CAp/UFRN her memories and life stories from the Amazon. Inspired by the reading of Poeminhas da Terra by Márcia Leite, illustrated by Tatiana Moés, the class collectively chose the Amazon as their research theme, awakening curiosity and appreciation for indigenous culture, ancestry, and sustainability. Throughout the year, the children engaged in study visits, workshops, cultural exhibitions, and conversations, building an interdisciplinary pedagogical journey. The Research Theme, a methodological approach adopted by the institution, was developed through three axes: sociocultural context, organization of knowledge, and children’s processes of meaning-making. The book is organized into three parts: Part 1 – Amazon, Culture, and Art: celebration of the forest’s fauna, flora, legends, and cultural manifestations. Part 2 – Indigenous Peoples: recognition of ancestral knowledge, experiences with indigenous communities, and artistic and cultural workshops. Part 3 – Climate Change: reflections on sustainability, COP30, and actions carried out in Natal/RN to care for the planet. Each page reveals the curious and creative gaze of children, who learned that even at a young age they can have great ideas to transform the world. This work is an invitation to educators, families, researchers, and readers to listen to the voice of childhood, reminding us of the importance of respecting nature, valuing indigenous culture, and building a sustainable future together.Book O Diário de Benício: narrativas escolares em mini-histórias e legendas de audiodescrição(NEI-CAP/UFRN, 2025-12-22) Azevedo, André Lucas Holanda de; Soares, Ingrid Caroline Cavalcante; Oliveira Neto, Rivaldo Bevenuto de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3683-1207; authorThis book gathers meaningful records of Benício’s school journey as a student in the 3rd grade morning class (2025) at NEI-CAp/UFRN. More than an institutional document, it serves as a living memory, allowing Benício to revisit remarkable experiences and enabling his family to closely follow his learning and development. Benício is an intelligent, organized, and committed child who experiences school with joy. As part of the target audience of Special Education due to low vision and autism, his selective communication makes it even more important to produce records that express not only technical aspects but also the affective and poetic dimensions of his school life. The book was born from the shared desire of teachers and family to make visible the inclusive pedagogical work carried out at the Núcleo de Educação da Infância/Colégio de Aplicação of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (NEI-CAp/UFRN). To achieve this, it uses audio description captions and mini-stories, which detail everyday moments and transform simple episodes into emotional and accessible narratives. Thus, Benício’s diary reveals how inclusive, sensitive, and meaningful education is built, valuing both learning and the affective bonds established between school and family.
