Master Thesis O Nordeste performado: representações, estereótipos e visibilidade no BookTok Brasil(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2026-02-02) Carneiro, Toni Lucas Bento; Souza, Daniel Rodrigo Meirinho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4658-5556; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9921846039591174; https://orcid.org/0009-0005-2934-6181; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1583905706253963; Sales Júnior, Francisco das Chagas; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3501-7211; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4548596905981191; Aires, Janaine Sibelle Freires; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6551-5297; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4051151886203077; Santiago Neto, Octavio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3723363337723611This study investigates the disputes over meaning surrounding literary works authored by Northeastern Brazilian writers within BookTok Brazil, a literary community on TikTok, questioning the extent to which content produced and published on the platform negotiates, reinforces, or challenges historical stereotypes associated with the region. The study aims to analyze the discursive and visual strategies employed by influencers in the promotion of these works. To this end, it adopts an exploratory qualitative-quantitative approach, combining bibliographic review, netnography (Kozinets, 2014), and content analysis (Bardin, 1977). The corpus consists of 34 videos collected between February and August 2025, examined through three categorical axes: representations of the Northeast and Northeastern literature; the agents and intentionalities of literary mediation; and algorithmic dynamics, engagement, and performance. The theoretical framework articulates studies on identity and the invention of the Northeast by Albuquerque Júnior (2011) and Santiago Neto (2024) with the concept of digital influencers proposed by Primo, Matos, and Monteiro (2021), in dialogue with perspectives on platformization and data governance developed by Van Dijck (2017), D’Andréa (2020), and Martins and Bolaño (2025). The findings highlight the central role of local mediators in processes of identity reinvention, albeit in tension with the structural invisibility imposed by TikTok’s algorithm, and contribute to a broader understanding of new forms of circulation of contemporary Brazilian literature beyond the hegemonic cultural axis. Master Thesis Princípios freireanos de comunicação no jornalismo contra-hegemônico: análise dos perfis @almapretajornalismo, @midiaindigenaoficial e @nosmulheresdaperiferia no Instagram(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-11-11) Queiroz, Isabelly da Silva Farias; Lacerda, Juciano de Sousa; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0876-377X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9310055597414010; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4843344845718245; La Torre, Alberto Efendy Maldonado Gomez de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5704-4544; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0850914521365876; Andrade, Alice Oliveira de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9048-1893; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3140699044086064This study offers a critical analysis of three counter-hegemonic journalistic profiles on Instagram — @almapretajornalismo, @midiaindiginaoficial, and @nosmulheresdaperiferia — which promote the appreciation of Brazilian cultural identity and the democratization of information. The research draws upon Paulo Freire’s theoretical framework, particularly the works Educação como Prática da Liberdade (1967), Pedagogia do Oprimido (1970), Pedagogia da Esperança (1992), Pedagogia da Autonomia (1996), Extensão ou Comunicação? (2013) and Educar com a Mídia (2022) engaging with concepts such as dialogue, critical consciousness, participation, and ethics in communication. Methodologically, it adopts a qualitative approach based in Schleiermacher’s hermeneutics (2003) and Ricœur (2011), in combination with Charmaz’s (2009) Constructivist Grounded Theory, enabling the identification of Freirean principles within the profiles’ discourses. The analysis examines engagement strategies that subvert traditional media logics and advance inclusive epistemologies. By transcending the conventional informational model, the study advocates for a pluralistic, ethical form of journalism committed to social transformation.Master Thesis Ato de governo ou propaganda eleitoral? A TV Brasil e os tensionamentos da comunicação pública em contextos eleitorais(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-12-15) Vieira, Hanry de Lima; Gomes, Marcelo Bolshaw; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8227-3672; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4277715352803619; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3877933912662323; Lemos, Daniel Dantas; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2957-1627; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2776869268430888; Kneipp, Valquiria Aparecida Passos; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5522-6961; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6752069973644466; Santos, Joseylson Fagner dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4764-2807; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8336355287959434This research seeks to understand how former President Jair Bolsonaro used TV Brasil in his meeting with ambassadors on July 18, 2022, in order to problematize the tensions between public communication, government action, and electoral propaganda. The work is based on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), according to the sociocognitive perspective of Teun A. van Dijk, associated with the case study as a central methodology. The corpus consists of the presidential speeches broadcast by the public television station. The theoretical framework articulates current legislation and contributions from authors in communication, politics, and law, supporting a multidisciplinary perspective. The research falls within the "Media Studies and Social Practices" research line of the PPGEM/UFRN program, which examines media communication as a space for the articulation of social practices and symbolic disputes in the public sphere. By analyzing the president's speeches, the aim is to understand how discourse intertwines with processes of power and representation, revealing the vulnerability of TV Brasil to political instrumentalization in a scenario of radicalization, in which state media is converted into a strategic arena for legitimizing and contesting the democratic system.Master Thesis “Ataca, Governadora!”: a imagem de Fátima Bezerra e a violência de gênero no rádio(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-09-30) Santos, Gabriela Olivar de Oliveira; Costa, Luciana Miranda; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3843-4499; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1310961057480638; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9026559055143367; Mustafá, Izani Pibernat; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1229-6171; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9088752631596667; Cruz, Adriano Charles da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2085-302X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3052471951752715Based on the hypothesis that political gender-based violence is also present in media discourse and on radio channels in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, this research analyzes how the commercial stations 96FM and 98FM construct the image of the current governor of Rio Grande do Norte (2019-2022 and 2023 to the present), Fátima Bezerra, a left-wing, openly brown woman of working-class origin and LGBTQIAPN+. The general objective was to analyze the journalistic discourse, through the programs Jornal das 6 and Repórter 98, on FM radio stations in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, regarding the governor's political activities. The specific objectives were: to investigate the relationship between the stations' profile and the image they construct of the governor; to compare the approach to Fátima Bezerra during different periods of her administration; and to identify the national media discourse on women in politics. Based on the theoretical and methodological foundation of French discourse analysis, the data were analyzed using Charaudeau's (2004) classifications of discursive targets; Orlandi's (2009) interpretative device to demonstrate the workings of ideology; and Pêcheux's (1997) concept of imaginary formations and informational schema. The study concluded that women who occupy decision-making and power positions, especially in politics, are systematically questioned about their capacity and competence. In the case of Governor Fátima Bezerra, elements in her discourse – verbal aggression, attempts to link her image and actions to elements commonly associated with the male world, "forgetfulness" of her political trajectory, and repeated assertions that the space she occupies does not belong to her – reinforce the hypothesis that she is the target of gender-based political violence.Master Thesis Interação por áudio nos ambientes digitais: a cobertura jornalística do Big Brother Brasil 2024 por meio do X Espaços(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-06-30) Silva, Max Suel Praxedes da; Kneipp, Valquiria Aparecida Passos; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5522-6961; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6752069973644466; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4849-2214; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6286551401059420; Gomes, Marcelo Bolshaw; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8227-3672; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4277715352803619; Storch, Laura Strelow; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1892-4186; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2030145751550956; Badiali, Michelle Ferret; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3500377017674415This dissertation investigates the use of the Spaces feature on the digital social network X (formerly known as Twitter) by journalists covering the reality show Big Brother Brasil 2024, focusing on broadcasts conducted by Murilo Ribeiro, known as Muka. The study considers that digital platforms — especially those based on synchronous orality — have introduced significant changes to journalistic practice, requiring new skills and forms of interaction with audiences. This is a qualitative research project, grounded in Case Study methodology (Yin, 2015) and employing Content Analysis (Bardin, 2016), applied to four selected Spaces based on criteria of relevance, duration, and engagement, broadcast between January and April 2024. The empirical analysis is structured around five recurring practices observed in the broadcasts: mediation, curation, reporting, interpretative analysis, and audience participation. The theoretical framework draws on authors such as Recuero (2009; 2011; 2012), McLuhan (2007), Jenkins (2009), Castells (1999; 2015), and Santaella (2003; 2004; 2018), with emphasis on circulation dynamics, communicational copresence, and convergence within digital social networks. The findings indicate the consolidation of a hybrid journalism model based on digital orality, active listening, and collaborative discourse construction. By repositioning the journalist as a mediator of public conversations in networked environments, X Spaces expands the possibilities for professional performance while also presenting ethical, technical, and interpretative challenges. This research contributes to digital journalism studies by describing, interpreting, and problematizing an emerging practice of journalistic mediation in connected environments.Master Thesis Análise sociocognitiva do discurso da Tribuna do Norte, G1 RN e Saiba Mais sobre a remoção da Ocupação Maria Lúcia Santos em mídias hegemônicas e contra-hegemônica(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-06-10) Almeida, Allan Matheus de; Lemos, Daniel Dantas; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2776869268430888; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6378-3052; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3910088821829924; Maia, Kenia Beatriz Ferreira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0753-7340; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8600703674458800; Costa, Adriano Medeiros; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9175-4902; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9856930765275594; Lêdo, Amanda Cavalcante de Oliveira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7178-9796; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4089661844410131This study analyzes the discursive strategies employed by hegemonic media outlets, such as Tribuna do Norte and g1 RN, and by alternative media, such as the Saiba Mais agency, in news coverage about the homeless population that occupied the Viaduto do Baldo, in the Maria Lúcia Santos occupation, focusing on the actions to remove these individuals from public space, initiated in February 2021 by the Municipal Government of Natal. The aim is to observe the implications of these discourses in shaping public opinion. The methodology applied is Critical Discourse Analysis, based on the sociocognitive approach, particularly the discourse–cognition–society triangle theory, with a qualitative perspective, considering historical, political, and social contexts in the formation of mental models that underlie cognition, the structure of discourse, and its intended meanings. The concept of aporophobia and its application in discourse is also revisited, as well as the hygienist movement, understood as having an aporophobic essence in its tendency to prioritize the interests of the dominant class. The results show that both Tribuna do Norte and g1 RN favor the Municipality of Natal, revealing an ideological alignment with the municipal administration, whereas Saiba Mais clearly assigns responsibility for the actions to the executive branch, indicating its ideological distance from the local government. Thus, it is concluded that the hegemonic media analyzed in this research reshape public perception to favor agendas aligned with the interests of the majority class.Master Thesis A representatividade feminina na cultura repentista no FEMI - Festival de Mulheres do Improviso em Campina Grande, PB(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-02-25) Oliveira, Oma Roxana Cordeiro de; Nobre, Itamar de Morais; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5726-8257; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8592622988364534; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0505553256332741; Carvalho, Breno da Silva; Carvalho, Bruna Franco Castelo BrancoThis study analyzes the content of the lyrics presented by improvisers in the 2nd and 3rd editions of the Women's Improvisation Festival (FEMI) in Campina Grande (broadcast on YouTube), investigating female representation in improvisation culture. We catalog the compositions to discuss the political-cultural role of improvisers, their themes, and the occupation of a traditionally male space as a decolonial act. The research is based on the recognition of improv as a cultural heritage by Iphan (2021), highlighting that, even with this status, women often appear as themes in the verses, not as protagonists. The aim is to increase the visibility of improvisers, promoting their academic inclusion and valuing the plurality of FEMI. Methodologically, we combine content analysis (Bardin, 2016) with netnography (Kozinets, 2014) to examine the artistic productions. The theoretical framework articulates folk communication, mediatization, gender, feminism, decoloniality and hegemony, exploring the political-cultural intersections of the communication phenomenon. The conclusions reveal the poetry of the repentistas as media communication and the viola as an instrument of information and empowerment, reaffirming FEMI as a space of resistance and feminine voice.Master Thesis O metajornalismo como estratégia imersiva no podcast A Mulher da Casa Abandonada(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-01-31) Silva, Taiane Cristina de Medeiros; Maia, Kenia Beatriz Ferreira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0753-7340; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8600703674458800; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1324987547151409; Pereira, Livia Cirne de Azevedo; Lopez, Débora CristinaBased on the essentially sensorial potential of audio, podcasts have explored immersive narrative strategies to capture the listener's attention. In the field of narrative journalism, both the journalistic practice and the journalist become characters present in the plot, highlighting the behind-the-scenes of the report and involving the viewer with a more in-depth perspective regarding the investigation of the reported information, an approach recognized in the field of metajournalism (Oliveira, 2010). From this perspective, this research aims to understand which expressive marks of metajournalistic practice as an immersive strategy are present in the podcast “A mulher da casa abandonada” (The woman in the abandoned house), produced by journalist Chico Felitti, linked to the Folha de S. Paulo conglomerate. First, podcasting as a language (Kischinhevsky, 2012; Luiz, 2014; Lopez, 2011) will be presented, as well as its proposed models (Bontempo, 2020; Bufarah, 2021; Viana and Chagas, 2021) and its presence in the true crime genre (Punnett, 2018; Yardley; Kelly; Robinson-Edwards, 2019; Jáuregui; Viana, 2022). Subsequently, an overview of narrative radio journalism will be provided, and then we will discuss immersive strategies and metajournalism in podcasting (Oliveira, 2010; Carlson, 2016; Kischinhevsky, 2017; Viana, 2022). For analysis, considering the sound nature of our object, a hybrid methodological approach is taken by combining the concept of listening point presented by Chion (2011) incorporated in the Analysis of Immersive Potential by Santos, P. (2022) with the Critical Analysis of Narrative Journalism in Podcast developed by Viana (2023) where we will focus on the metajournalism present in the metanarrative plan. We systematized the corpus of this research by going through the seven episodes of the series, observing representations of memory, behind the scenes and journalistic repercussion evidenced by the journalist's first-person discourse. As a result, we identified how the listener can have their immersion experience in the podcast guided by obtaining details of the investigation crossed by subjectivity, self-referentiality and journalistic transparency.Master Thesis Vai na Fé: um estudo sobre o aumento das relações inter-raciais(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-02-26) Silva, Francisco Ewerton Aleixo da; Pavan, Maria Ângela; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2258546985285753; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0885-4775; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9261522702630245; Andrade, Alice Oliveira de; Souza, Daniel Rodrigo Meirinho de; Rodrigues, Denise Carvalho dos SantosThe Brazilian telenovela is one of the most important audiovisual products in Brazil. Through its narratives and storylines, Brazilian television drama reaches millions of viewers. However, few opportunities have been given to Black artists to secure prominent roles in these productions. The situation becomes even more delicate when we ask: where are the romances for these characters? Do they have the right to love? With this in mind, the objective of this study is to analyze the interracial couples in the telenovela Vai na Fé, written by Rosane Svartman and aired in 2023 on Rede Globo at 7 PM. This research aims to highlight the significant number of romantic pairs featured throughout the series—eleven in total. The popular tone of the storyline brought Black characters to the forefront, characters who are often marginalized or rendered invisible in other productions. Yet, most of the Black cast in Vai na Fé belonged to the poor narrative arc, reinforcing a well-worn stereotype. This study hypothesizes that the increase in interracial relationships in Vai na Fé was an attempt to break the invisibility of Black artists in Brazilian television drama, though it still echoed the stereotype of the impoverished Black character. To understand the theme addressed in this study, we will draw on Lopes (2003, 2009, 2019) and Hamburger (2005, 2011), who examine the history of Brazilian telenovelas. To explore the representation of Black characters, we will refer to Araújo (2000, 2019, 2006, 2008) and Sodré (1999). For discussions on invisibility, representation, intersectionality, violence experienced by Black people, and structural racism, we will consult Nascimento (1978), Gonzalez (2020), Almeida (2019), Hall (2016), and Akotirene (2019). The methodology chosen is Motta's (2013) critical narrative analysis and the image analysis based on Diana Rose's (2002), using a qualitative approach.Master Thesis O áudio em uma perspectiva midiática de informação feminista no contexto da pandemia da Covid-19: um estudo do Podcast Feminismo e Marxismo(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-10-15) Soares, Fernanda Lourena Pereira; Kneipp, Valquiria Aparecida Passos; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5522-6961; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6752069973644466; https://orcid.org/0009-0008-1263-9537; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8962879455316090; Gomes, Marcelo Bolshaw; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8227-3672; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4277715352803619; Silva, Telma Gurgel daThis dissertation analyzed, from a feminist and classist perspective (Toledo, 2017), the podcast as a new media process on the Internet, using the concepts of expanded radio (Kischinhevsky, 2012; 2016; 2017), seeking to understand how this tool has contributed to women taking ownership of this media, in an attempt to build other positions in society. In this sense, the podcast Feminismo e Marxismo produced by women with a gender perspective was analyzed in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, in 2021. In order to observe the possibilities of resistance of these subjects in the search for emancipation and eradication of inequalities of gender. Therefore, this dissertation aims to identify the protagonism of women in the podcast and how this media represents, strengthens and expands awareness of feminist issues. In this sense, the research opts for a qualitative methodological approach using the case study (Yin, 2001), with data collection and production analysis of the podcast mentioned above as research elements.Master Thesis Mulheres no cinema, racismos e sexismo(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2021-04-19) Nascimento, Renata Pyrrho; Lemos, Daniel Dantas; Rodrigues, Denise Carvalho dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2776869268430888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4946927828587692; Pavan, Maria Ângela; Ledo, Amanda Cavalcante de OliveiraThis dissertation stems from the analysis of inequalities highlighted by the latest IBGE census (2018), which shows the near-total exclusion of Black women - the largest identity group in Brazil - from both academia and cinema screens. It argues that Latin American and Brazilian racisms were brought by European colonization, aiming to legitimize the enslavement of Black and Indigenous peoples (Dijk, 2008b). The research emphasizes the erasure and silencing that subjugate thousands of individuals (Spivak, 2010; Ribeiro, 2017; Davis, 2016; Kilomba, 2019; hooks, 2013 and 2019; Collins, 2000), directly contributing to the ongoing violence and death of racialized people (Ribeiro, 2017; Mbembe, 2018). Through Critical Discourse Analysis and Womanism theories, this dissertation provides a critical reading of the films The Help (2011) and Venus Noire (2010), also revealing the paradoxical yet active participation of white women in the construction of Hollywood cinema. In the final section, the author reflects on the urgent need to reconstruct our own images and narratives, suggesting that cinema can be an essential tool for understanding and transforming contemporary societyMaster Thesis Intertextualidade e heterogeneidade discursiva: análise das crônicas pandêmicas do Saiba Mais em 2020(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-11-26) Costa, Glynner Freire Brandão; Cruz, Adriano Charles da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2085-302X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3052471951752715; https://orcid.org/0009-0004-8368-9225; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2334874156339790; Dias, Cristiane Pereira Costa; Hanke, Michael Manfred; Santos, Valnecy Oliveira CorrêaConsidered by the UN the worst global crisis since World War II, the covid-19 pandemic caused 700,000 deaths in Brazil and established new social etiquette habits, such as the use of masks and home confinement. The impact of the health crisis, on the public and private axes of life in society, was on the agenda in the media of Rio Grande do Norte. In search of the effects of meaning and discursivization of the pandemic, this qualitative research analyzes the discourse in 11 journalistic chronicles on the pandemic, published on the Agência Saiba Mais website, in the first half of 2020. The concept of journalistic chronicle proposed by Rey (2007) was chosen. In the analyses, the texts are positioned on the border between opinative and informative genres (Melo, 1994; Beltrão, 1980; Chaparro, 2008) and at the intersection between journalism and literature (Pena, 2006; Sá, 2005; Moisés, 1986), given the fruition of the genre. The “de-superficialization” of textual materiality and representation of reality by the subject-chronicler is based on the interface between journalism, literature, Discourse Analysis (AD) of Franco-Brazilian line (Orlandi, 2012, 1987) and Textual Linguistics (LT), which points to the interdisciplinary perspective of research. The social construction of reality by journalists was investigated based on what appears in texts (said and not said), the social place of who speak, the “conditions of production” and the correlation between chronic and other sayings, under the lens of interdiscursivity (Pêcheux, 1971, 1990, 1995, 2015), intertextuality (Kristeva, 1968, 1969, 2005; Koch, Bentes & Cavalcante, 2008) and enunciative heterogeneity (Authier-Revuz, 1990, 1998, 2004, 2008, 2011). Regarding the interdiscursivity/intertextuality consortium, it was proved that the “discursive memory” enabled the symbolization of the pandemic by journalists, which occurred by musical, behavioral, literary, political-economic, legal, scientific/sanitary, journalistic, religious, historical, communist, mythological and military speeches/intertexts. Regarding intertextuality, in particular, the analyses focused on explicit, implicit and thematic modalities. On the enunciative heterogeneity, stereotypes, metaphors, ironies, reminiscences, resignification of words, allusions and regional speeches predominated. It was possible to conclude that the effects of meaning derive from the semic network installed, in the journalistic chronicles, by interdiscursivity, enunciative heterogeneity and intertextuality. These are strategies that allowed the press professional to structure his speech, inform, opine and expand the network of references with the reader, in order to address the message and ensure the emancipation/adhesion of the reader, in a context of worsening in community life.Master Thesis O impacto da comunicação institucional: uma análise propositiva da comunicação digital do Campus Virtual de Saúde Pública da OPAS(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-05-21) Cunha, Yasmim Helleen; Lacerda, Juciano de Sousa; Gallego, Almudena Muñoz; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0876-377X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9310055597414010; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5121-7312; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6978211641299706; Torre, Alberto Efendy Maldonado Gomez de La; Muneiro, Lilian Carla; Foletto, RafaelThis study aims to examine the importance of institutional communication in the field of public health, from the approach of the Virtual Public Health Campus of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Initially, this work presents the theoretical foundations of public and institutional communication and highlights its relevance for the dissemination of information and the construction of knowledge. The text explores the role of the Virtual Campus as an essential health education tool, highlighting its structure and the use of social networks to promote institutional communication. Furthermore, this work aims to discuss the different challenges and strategies to legitimize communication in media organizations, with emphasis on media visibility and the operating logic of the PAHO Virtual Campus. In order to deduce the results, a methodological approach has been used that involves a case study and analysis of the impact of institutional communication, identifying difficulties and proposing solutions to optimize its effectiveness. Finally, the final conclusions have been presented, highlighting the importance of institutional communication in the promotion of public health and suggesting directions for future lines of research. The study is based on an exhaustive bibliographic review with studies on mediatization (Almeida, 2021; Alencar and Hjarvad, 2022; Véron, 2004; Sodré, 2012; 2022) and Health Communication (Soares, 2020), Organizational Communication (Matos, 2010; Kunsch1997), as well as relevant annexes to complement the execution of the analysis.Master Thesis A cena LGBTQIAPN+ natalense na web: o pioneirismo da websérie Septo e as respostas de sua audiência(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-02-28) Liberato, Ruston Gabriel Fernandes; Pereira, Lívia Cirne de Azevedo; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2904-7182; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5512139880539951; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0644267504076353; Bezerra, Josenildo Soares; Leite, Rafaela Bernardazzi TorrensConvergence culture is characterized by complementary distribution to different media, the exploitation of participation tools and the use and appropriation of decentralized production dynamics, supported by collective intelligence phenomena. Web series are an example of a media format that fits into this culture, as they are serialized audiovisual narratives that circulate in web or app environments and allow viewers to interact with the content offered, and can be produced with an independent budget or not. In this context, SEPTO (2016-2020) emerges, the first web series produced in northeastern Brazil and set in Natal (RN). Distributed in three seasons, totaling 17 episodes, the internationally awarded web series has as its main plot an LGBTQIAPN+ romance, lived by two women, inserting representativeness as a theme in fictional productions. Based on this, this research develops an analysis of this production through the lens of the Case Study methodology of the 6 most viewed episodes on YouTube in order to revisit the way the characters relate to the city, their interactions, terms and social roles. In association with this, we will also use the tools of Social Network Analysis in association with Sentiment Analysis to analyze the data on the audience's reaction and relationship with the web series by analyzing the main comments among the 570 made by followers in the first and last episodes of the production.Master Thesis A imagem do Papa Francisco nas revistas semanais: análise da cobertura da Jornada Mundial da Juventude no Brasil(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-04-11) Cabral Júnior, Rossano José Batista; Cruz, Adriano Charles da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2085-302X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3052471951752715; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8433976075155337; Lemos, Daniel Dantas; Veloso, Maria do Socorro Furtado; Accioly, Sheila MendesThis study analyzes the image of Pope Francis constructed by the weekly magazines Carta Capital, Veja, and Época during the World Youth Day held in Rio de Janeiro in 2013. This was also the year of the resignation of the predecessor pontiff, Benedict XVI, and the election of Francis to the papacy, amidst a historical context of corruption cases in the Vatican, pedophilia cases, Interreligious diplomatic crises. These marks in history brought instability to the ideological structure of the Catholic Church, which, for this reason, became the target of criticism from the media and faithful who disagreed with the conservative stances of the then Pope. Immersed in this reality, the Brazilian edition of the event was led by the new ecclesiastical management and received intense media coverage, which captured and disseminated Francis's sympathy and simple words to the entire globe. From a discursive perspective, we analyze how the magazines constructed the ethos of Pope Francis. Thus, a discursive analysis is carried out based on studies from the Franco-Brazilian tradition, including Pêcheux (1997), Orlandi (2007), Courtine (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013), and Maingueneau (2004, 2015). We mobilized the concepts of Discursive Formation, Intericonicity, Discursive Memory / Interdiscourse, Conditions of Production, and Ethos. Thus, we identified that the media discourse constructed a narrative of renewal within the Church, and the religious leader was portrayed as a charismatic, humble, and innovative figure who fights for the less fortunate.Master Thesis Transubjetividade e autoficção no documentário autoral contemporâneo: uma análise de Olmo e a Gaivota(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2023-09-27) Guedes Júnior, Silvio César; Lemos, Daniel Dantas; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2776869268430888; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1411-0134; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5496312854669479; Pavan, Maria Ângela; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2258546985285753; Dantas, Daiany FerreiraThis research proposes an analysis of the enunciation of the documentary Olmo and the seagull (2014), codirected by the directors Petra Costa and Lea Glob, aiming mainly at its ethical dimension, at its way of addressing to the spectator and at the relationship between its filmmakers and its characters, the subjective investment of the two parts in the whole of the film enunciation. With the purpose of determining in which ethical/aesthetical context the film is situated, we look at the documentary history addressing different modes of enunciation and staging and its transformations from the classic to the contemporary documentary, aiming especially at the meanings that emerge in the decade of 1960 with the rising of aesthetics which present ruptures in regards to the traditions of the dominant linguistic structure. We also address the notions of auto-mise-en-scène and the risk of the real by Comolli (2008); the direction/character relationship (Santos Segundo, 2016); and the ethical values that guide the filmmakers’ contact with the viewer. Observing that the film in question mobilizes concepts related to contemporary documentary, we address the concepts of virtualization and transubjectivity in Rezende (2013). In what concerns the enunciation mode and the ethical dimension of the documentary in question, we seek to deepen the understanding of the performative or first-person documentary, in which the film is enframed. The concept of autofiction, which helps us analyze the relationships that are established between the directors and the characters as well as between the work and the viewer, raises questions related to the problem of authorship in contemporary documentary which are fundamental for the debate regarding the genre. Applying the concepts learned to the analysis, we observe how Olmo and the seagull positions itself in a modest and reflective mode in their dialogue with the spectator.Master Thesis Corpus simulacrum: cinema de terror, motores de dobra e semiótica alien(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2023-06-15) Silva, José Laerton Santos da; Souza, Daniel Rodrigo Meirinho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4658-5556; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9921846039591174; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5409112935330601; Rodrigues, Denise Carvalho dos Santos; Assunção, Diego Paleólogo; Lacerda, Juciano de Sousa; Pavan, Maria Ângela; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2258546985285753What if, in global subjectivity, raciality is learned as a rift in space-time? The images could then reveal a symbolic plot where raciality would describe alternative space-time lines for reading global contemporaneity. Based on this premise, the present research aimed to analyze the representation of blackness in horror films, based on the concepts of philosopher and visual artist Denise Ferreira da Silva, to think about contemporary raciality. The research question was around what horror narratives can reveal when read, felt and experienced through the lens of raciality? 4 horror films were selected according to criteria established in research. The films were analyzed and their narratives were explored in terms of language, concepts and images to compose an essay that addresses a multiplicity of issues, supported by theories and studies of communication, philosophy, psychology, quantum physics, conspiracy theories and culture pop. The four Brazilian films used as main narratives were: As Boas Maneiras (2018), O Rastro (2017), O Nó do Diabo (2018) and O Clube dos Canibais (2018). In addition to these main films, secondary films were used: Panic Room (2002), Population 436 (2006), Under The Shadow (2016), Trabalho Cansa (BR, 2011), Alien Nation (1988), Nope (2022) and Fresh ( 2022). The research methodology was guided by the proposals of Roldán and Viadel (2012), according to which the reflection on narrative and argumentative structure in visual discourses for research in visual arts finds some possibilities for exploration in cinematographic editing. The important theoretical references for the construction of the essay include the thoughts of philosophers Audre Lord (2019), Patricia Hill Collins (2019), bell hooks (2019), and Angela Davis (2016). The research was also strongly inspired by the theorizations of African-American researcher and filmmaker Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman (2019), Horror Noire, about black horror cinema in the United States. The concept of hybrid warfare commonly used in militarism/politics was also important. Other equally important references make up the essay. As a result, the analysis showed the multiple conceptual possibilities that horror narrative plots can point to when considered in their symbolic plane to think about issues linked to raciality and colonialism.Master Thesis A violência como discurso político: uma análise sobre Jair Bolsonaro, Flávio Bolsonaro e Carla Zambelli no Twitter(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-04-12) Costa, Ederson Levi Rodrigues da; Aires, Janaine Sibelle Freires; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6551-5297; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4051151886203077; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5488-7220; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0536491224945237; Carvalho, Breno da Silva; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3196-2328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9606206855814927; Câmara, Clara BezerrilThe violence in Brazil had considerable increace after the Jair Bolsonaro election in 2018, especially when it concerns to political violence. That’s why, the present research proposes to analyze if the bolsonaro’s discourse in social media influence the political violence rise. For that, we will use the excerpt of the three most engaged profiles of the right wing in Brazil: Jair Bolsonaro, Flávio Bolsonaro and Carla Zambelli, analyzing especifically posts that were made in the X, during the year of 2022. Since those profiles are the most engaged on the right wing, it’s possible to think that they are, at the same time, the profiles that reach most people in they posts, wich mean’s that they discourse can influence more people. This will be made using as theoretical foundation authors like Orlandi (1998) and his contributions about discourse, Althusser (1980) and theoretical contributions about ideology, Bourdieu (1986, 1998) and his debate about political representation and different forms of capital, in addition to Alves (2019) e Barbosa (2022) and his contribution in debate about Bolsonaro’s movement. We will be applying the french Discourses Analyzes, wich adresses historical materialism and struturalism, analyzing any of the tweets wich includes any forms of political violence. After the analysis, it was possible to assess that the bolsonaro’s discourse contributes with the political violence, while assign that the left is the enemy to be fought on the society, futhermore it was possible to identify some strategies that were used for this.Master Thesis Violência policial e racismo: reflexos do pacto da branquitude na produção jornalística do Jornal Nacional e do Repórter Brasil(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2024-04-15) Madruga, Beatriz Pires; Aires, Janaine Sibelle Freires; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6551-5297; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4051151886203077; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0106-0430; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3338113582778913; Souza, Daniel Rodrigo Meirinho de; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4658-5556; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9921846039591174; Santos, Suzy dosThis master's thesis was developed with the aim of analyzing how the whiteness manifests itself in the news coverage of police violence cases against black people in Brazil. The hypothesis that guides the study, understands that there is a negligent exemption on the part of journalistic production dominated by white professionals, which does not assume, in its coverage, racism as one of the motivators of the violent acting from the police, which implies the denial of the problem and prevents debate about public safety in its complexity. Using Televisual Analysis (Becker, 2005, 2012) as methodology, we analyzed the news programs Rede Globo's Jornal Nacional and TV Brasil's Repórter Brasil, seeking to diagnose the incidence of the use of the word "racismo" in the sample of news collected in both news programs, between the years of 2022 and 2023. The results found point to coverage without depth and, above all, silent, one of the strong characteristics of the whiteness pact. What we aim to achieve with this study, is to raise thoughts about the possible impacts of the absence of the race debate in journalistic coverage about police violence to maintain the logic that criminalizes the black population and normalizes their suffering and death.
