Master Thesis A psicoterapia como atividade de trabalho no Brasil(2018-03-28) Andrade, Juliana Moreira da Silva; Falcão, Jorge Tarcisio da Rocha; ; ; Melo, Symone Fernandes de; ; Silva, Cláudia Osório da;The field of psychotherapy was built from historical shamanic roots, through processes of scientification and institutionalization. These processes allowed it to achieve validity, diversification, expansion and social consolidation as a clinical practice that can be exercised by many professionals, psychologists included. In Brazil, this professional activity is sometimes seen as the main social representation of the psychologist, and even of psychology itself. However, the field is scattered in its perspectives, with a persisting need to deepen discussions related to problems that go beyond its fragmentation. Therefore, the objective of this research was to understand and analyze psychotherapy as a work activity, from the point of view of psychotherapistspsychologists themselves, opening space for reflection and possibilities for activity transformation. We adopted the clinical method of activity analysis, using a sequence of articulated interviews. Three psychotherapists participated in the study, affiliated to different theoretical and methodological approaches and with diversified time of professional experience. Results presented a characterization of the psychotherapist’s professional activity. There were several common aspects about their work, pointing towards the existence of a professional gender of autonomous psychotherapists-psychologists, beyond the fragmentation in approaches. Several issues were observed, such as: concealing of certain themes in the dialogue between peers; simultaneous, sometimes conflicting performances between the roles of psychotherapist and administrator; impasses between the perspective of helping and remuneration, as well as on the presence of technological resources of communication in the psychotherapeutic process. With this study it was possible to contribute to the understanding of psychotherapy as a work activity and with resources that can improve formative, evaluative and dialogue strengthening strategies in the professional category of psychologists. Based on the method, it was also possible to contribute to the discussion on theoretical and methodological aspects in the field of work psychology, especially in the Activity Clinic approach.
