| Portuguese Abstract: | O artigo analisa o uso do termo Capitanias do Norte do Estado do Brasil, fazendo um pequeno balanço historiográfico das principais contribuições sobre o assunto e contrapondo com uma nova produção mais recente de jovens historiadores. Propõe, portanto, uma reflexão teórico-metodológica sobre o conceito, defendendo a sua utilização para determinado contexto. Entendemos que as Capitanias do Norte abarcam as conjunturas de 1654 a 1817, englobando o contexto da Restauração, mas também das transformações políticas e econômicas na virada do XIX |
| Abstract: | The article analyzes the use of the term Northern Captaincies, making a historiographical balance of the main contributions on the subject and contrasting it with a new more recent production of young historians. Therefore, it proposes a theoretical-methodological reflection on the concept, defending its use for a given context. We understand that the Northern Captaincies cover the conjunctures from 1654 to 1817, encompassing the context of the Restoration, but also of the political and economic transformations at the edge the XIX |
