| Portuguese Abstract: | O presente trabalho visa trazer à tona a discussão e a análise das personagens femininas presentes no romance distópico Fahrenheit 451, do célebre autor Ray Bradbury, tendo esta obra literária como corpus de estudo. Uma vez que esse é um tema pouco explorado no âmbito da pesquisa literária acerca desse corpus, o trabalho objetiva analisar passagens da obra que destaquem a importância das figuras femininas e como elas influenciam no desenvolvimento da narrativa. Empregando os métodos de revisão literária e o close reading, este trabalho contextualiza a época em que o livro foi escrito, observando-o primeiramente pela ótica da crítica feminista e o inserindo no âmbito do gênero da distopia, discutindo como as personagens são comumente representadas nesse campo literário. Além disso, é feita uma análise qualitativa das personagens, caracterizando-as com base nos estudos sobre o personagem no gênero romance dos autores Eagleton (2020), Forster (2005) e Massaud (2006). |
| Abstract: | The present work aims to bring up the discussion and analysis of the female characters present in the dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451, by celebrated author Ray Bradbury, having this literary work as corpus of study. Since this is a subject little explored in the scope of literary research about this corpus, the work aims to analyze passages of the work that highlight the importance of female figures and how they influence the development of the narrative. Employing the methods of literary review and close reading, this work contextualizes the time in which the book was written, observing it primarily from the perspective of feminist criticism and inserting it within the scope of the dystopian genre, discussing how the characters are commonly represented in this literary field. In addition, a qualitative analysis of the characters is made, characterizing them based on studies on the character in the novel genre, by the authors Eagleton (2020), Forster (2005) and Massaud (2006). |
