Medicina e filosofia hoje: uma aproximação necessária para as cidades saudáveis

Abstract

The conception of balance in reference to health and imbalance in reference to disease, which is associated with the conception of natural order governing the forces of the universe and juridical order that establishes justice and injustice, were common notions within the discourse of both natural philosophy and Hippocratic medicine. I intend to show that these notions still remain important to organize modern cities by discussing the ‘healthy cities’ project. I suggest to incorporate an ethical dimension into the discourse of healthy lifestyles, in the light of Kant´s conception of duties to oneself and his doctrine of virtue. My aim, with this new dimension strongly teleological, is to bring together man and city once again
