It also verifies the changes in writing about singing in works by folklorists, in addition to analyzing the set of sociocultural relations, rules and instruments that are used within viola singing, which determine its functioning. The theoretical debates are based on concepts from Oral History (ALBERTI, 1996; FERREIRA, 2012), Cultural History (BURKE, 2005; PESAVENTO, 2006; CHARTIER, 2002) and Popular Culture (ARANTES, 1987; CERTEAU, 1994), as well as dialogues and analyzes that depart from the concepts of genealogy, writing history and sertões. The sources used are oral, digital, literary, hemerographic, folkloric books and academic texts, as well as images and various documents present in the personal collections of poets from the municipality of Caicó.
