The reduction in incidence, attributed to vector control efforts targeting Triatoma infestans and Rhodnius prolixus, alongside the migration of human populations infected with the parasite to non-endemic areas, has expanded its dissemination. Additionally, new cases of oral transmission, particularly in northern Brazil, have emerged. Despite the decrease in cases, challenges persist in diagnosis and treatment, leading to underreporting and ineffective public policies. Even after eight decades since the initiatives led by Emmanuel Dias, the use of pyrethroid insecticides in domestic and peridomestic environments remains the primary strategy for preventing T. cruzi transmission in Brazil, highlighting the need for investment in the development of new control approaches. This study aims to explore Chagas disease control strategies through a bibliographic review.
