From the testimony of the experience of the author of this work as a student through graphic primary sources, literary and journalistic, exploratory survey of the institution is done. After historical background to present the 60s and 70s, in which is related to precursor institutions such as the Little School of Cândido Portinari painting - MEA, and GRUPEHQ, taken as inspiring factors for its creation, pointing it as an art school of great importance in art history at the RN, and this is verified by both the description of infrastructure aspects, management and dissemination, but above all for the many services the cultural life of Christmas in the form of a generation of talented and experienced artists it generated . There is still this study, examples of the method of work, commitment and pedagogical quality of its faculty describing characteristics of educators, artistic production of students, data on holding exhibitions, outreach activities and cultural partnerships. We conclude exposing the decentralization of artistic practices that resulted in the final deactivation of this Art School. As final element, a photo gallery of alumni with brief descriptions of the method, and sources consulted is presented, emphasizing the importance of this workshop in the course of production and teaching of visual arts in RN.
