Dissertação (Mestrado em Geografia) - Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2020.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/31686The different forms of commercialization of goods led to changes in the spatial structures of cities, since commerce is an activity that moves social and urban life. Its different forms and practices of reproduction throughout history have led to numerous changes that have influenced social practices, including the consumption of goods through trade. Based on the readings of the writings of Cachinho (1994, 1999, 2006, 2009), Salgueiro (1989, 2006, 2010) and other authors who address the theme of trade and consumption and its transformations over the years, through modernization of establishments and commercial practices, in order to answer how the dynamics of door-to-door trade and its practice in contemporary times are explained, research on door-to-door commerce was carried out. Even though it has been an activity since the medieval period, this modern commercial practice presents new configurations permeated by relationships consistent with economic and social reality. The theoretical basis obtained from the aforementioned authors supported the field research carried out in the city of Mamanguape with the general objective of understanding the dynamics of door-to-door commerce and its growth in relation to existing modern commerce. The work is divided into three (03) chapters: in chapter 1 we deal with trade today, its innovations and changes, trade and consumption that take place through different capitalist strategies, in chapter 2 we approach the door-to-door marketing from traditional to “modern”, in chapter 3 we discuss door-to-door commerce in the city of Mamanguape, as well as commercial development in the city center and its importance for neighboring cities. In this chapter, the results of the field research are presented and an analysis of door-to-door commercial activity is carried out, together with an analysis by neighborhood. Finally, the final considerations are made resulting from the dialogue between theory and empiry that allowed the confirmation of the social importance of door-to-door commerce for consumption and family sustainability, door-to-door marketing can be understood through the unequal logic of concentration of wealth, lack of opportunity, unequal appropriation of urban spaces and growing unemployment in recent years.Acesso AbertoComércio porta a portaFormas e práticas comerciaisMamanguape/PBO comércio porta a porta na cidade de Mamanguape-PBmasterThesis
