Thus this research has as general objective to understand and analyze whether the professional librarian is seen/designed by students from the middle of the State School Education Desembargador Floriano Cavalcanti (FLOCA) is so faithful or stereotyping. The logo of the work was presented the evolution of professional librarian and the characteristics of the profession, your chances of acting, aspects relating to their academic training and skills and abilities required for the professional exercise, as well as aspects of their social representation. Uses as a research methodology of quantitative and descriptive nature, making use of questionnaires as an instrument of data collection, the respect of the image that the students of middle school of FLOCA feature of the profession of librarian. And from the collected data and the results obtained showed that the representation that learners have the image of the librarian in the present day, in its greater part is incompatible with the professional competencies to society, and noticed the lack of training and its activities.
