The theoretical framework mobilizes studies on culture, cultural patrimony and cities. The methodology adopted to carry out the research included contact with the municipality's receptive travel agencies and a survey of publications on Instagram profiles, to identify strategies for appropriating cultural assets. The results show that receptive travel agencies in Santa Cruz/RN have minimal strategies for appropriating the city's cultural assets. It is possible to state that, even though agencies act as receptive agents in the tourist market, the main focus of their commercialization is outbound tourism.
