Is an integrative literature review, carried out considering the following steps: formulation of the research question; data collect; evaluation, analysis and interpretation of data; results presentation. In the search yielded a total of 51 items, eight were selected. It was found few studies on continuing education and nursing in the last five years, with confusion in some texts about the differences between permanent and continuing education.
