(Bmj Open, 2023) Piuvezam, Grasiela; Santos, Thais Teixeira dos; Medeiros, Gidyenne Christine Bandeira Silva; Mata, Ádala Nayana de Sousa; Silva Júnior, Danyllo do Nascimento; Martínez, Daniel Guillén; Ríos, Manuel Pardo; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2343-7251
Introduction Extended reality (XR) is the ensemble of interactive experiences based on a computer-simulated environment that encompasses virtual reality and augmented reality and has been proven to be potentially innovative in the field of health education with adolescents. The objective of this study is to present a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol that seeks to evaluate the main effects of interventions that use XR on health parameters (food intake, sound quality and physical activity) of adolescent students. Methods and analysis The literature search will be performed in the following databases: MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, ERIC, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Cochrane, LILACS, APA and ADOLEC. Intervention studies (clinical trials—randomised or non-randomised) and quasi-experimental studies will be included. The risk of bias will be assessed using the Risk of Bias in Nonrandomized Studies of Interventions tool for randomised controlled trials (RCTs), non-RCTs and quasi-experimental trials. Two independent researchers will conduct all the assessments, and any disagreements will be consulted with a third reviewer. Data analysis and synthesis will be performed using RevMan V.5.4.1 software. The study will be conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols guideline. Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval and human consent were not required, as this is a protocol for a systematic review and only secondary data will be used. The findings will be published in a journal and presented at conferences. In case of any changes to this protocol, it will be updated in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses website, and the modifications will be explained in the final report of this review

Nutritional therapy in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis
(Bmj Open, 2022) Piuvezam, Grasiela; Vilar, Mariana Dantas de Carvalho; Coutinho, Karla Monica Dantas; Vale, Sancha Helena de Lima; Lais, Lucia Leite; Medeiros, Gidyenne Christine Bandeira Silva; Brandao-Neto, Jose; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2343-7251
Introduction Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a complex neurodegenerative disease characterised by the degeneration of motor neurons. Nutritional interventions in ALS are essential and must be based on scientific evidence to provide quality of healthcare, improve the quality of life and increase survival time. Therefore, this protocol of systematic reviews and meta-analyses aims to present a synthesis of evidence-based recommendations to support adequate nutrition therapy for patients with ALS. Methods and analysis The search will be performed using the following databases: PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), Scopus, SciELO, Web of Science, LILACS, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), ScienceDirect, ProQuest and Google Scholar. We will include clinical practice guidelines, treatment protocols, systematic reviews and clinical trials according to the three research questions to be answered related to nutrition therapy and interventions in patients with ALS. This protocol will be developed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols. To evaluate the methodological quality of the studies, Appraisal of Guidelines, Research and Evaluation II, Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 and Risk of Bias In Non-randomized Studies of Interventions (ROBINS-I) tools will be used. In addition, the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation will be used to assess the quality of evidence and the strength of the recommendations. The findings will be summarised and presented descriptively according to the Cochrane Collaboration Handbook and the standard statistical meta-analysis techniques. Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval and human consent are not required because this is a protocol for systematic review and only secondary data will be used. Findings will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at conferences. In case of any changes in this protocol, amendments will be updated in International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) and the modifications will be explained in the final report of this review

Sustainability practices in foodservice: waste analysis as a first step
(Holos, 2022) Bezerra, Ingrid Wilza Leal; Aquino, Séphora Louyse Silva de; Medeiros, Gidyenne Christine Bandeira Silva; Seabra, Larissa Mont'Alverne Jucá; Rolim, Priscila Moura
This study aimed to evaluate waste management in a restaurant by quantifying waste in all production processes and proposing strategies to reduce them. Plate waste and leftovers were considered for food waste. In regard to minimizing food waste, the authors describe some recommendations to improve the foodservice process. A total of 14,934 Kg of organic waste and 2,030 kg of inorganic waste were generated during a 30-day production period. The average leftover-ingestion index was high, which can result in wasted meals and increased costs. The findings highlight the need to optimize meal production in order to improve sustainable practices, particularly waste management and environmental education. Food waste has become an issue of great public concern. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development reflects the increased global awareness of the problem. The concepts of sustainable management have increasingly been on the agenda of many business associations, especially foodservice and collective meal production
