This monograph investigates how the environmental theme (COSTA, 2005; LEFF, 2006) guided the entire organization of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, observing the speeches and actions taken by the organizers from the city's application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) until the closing of the competitions of the first Olympic edition held in South America. The investigation also contemplates the repercussions of the party as a communicational product in the printed, digital and television media, both in Brazil and abroad. The inaugural show presented at the Maracanã stadium is analyzed by the technique of the content analysis, according to Bardin (1977) and Chizzotti (1991), which was methodologically applied to observe the dialogue of sustainability with the other values that were prioritized by the ceremony, such as Brazilianness, diversity and Olympism.Bachelor Thesis Futebol na Olimpíada Rio 2016: história e comunicabilidade no Jornal Nacional(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2017-06-21) Félix, Lucas Rodrigues; Muneiro, Lilian Carla; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8311890222500377; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9242-713X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4395478656578526; Condorelli, Antonino; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4832910631790845; Nobre, Luiz Fernando Dal Pian; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1302903508054167Football and the press have been characterized since the emergence of the sport in the country by a relation of interdependence, amplified with the advent of television and subsequent broadcasts of the games. This monograph shows the predominance of the repercussion of football in relation to other sports in the media, especially television, analyzing in retrospect its impact on the country and the history of TV Globo transmissions in this field, two issues that intersected at various moments over the decades, mainly during the matches of the Brazilian National Team. An analysis of the broadcaster's coverage of the men's final between Brazil and Germany during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is highlighted, as is the Jornal Nacional news show about the Brazilian victory, observing from a number of different angles, for example as interviewing journalists involved, in the priority that was dedicated to football event during a multi-sport event such as the Olympic Games.
