To avoid this imbalance, a massage has been gaining popularity, percussive massage, which tends to reduce pain, improve muscle spasms and increase range of movement and increases local blood flow. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of percussive massage on the perception of pain and fatigue, perception of recovery, pressure pain threshold and dynamometric muscular performance of runners after a 10 km run. Methods: This is a controlled, randomized and blind clinical trial, in which 40 runners of both sexes were randomly allocated into two groups: the experimental group, in which percussive massage (GMP) was performed and the control group, in which percussive massage (GMP) was performed therapeutic massage (GMT) of the “effleurage” type. Both groups received 10 minutes of quadriceps femoris massage. Participants were assessed at 6 moments using the pain and fatigue perception and recovery perception scales, isokinetic dynamometry and algometry. In the statistical analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Levene tests and mixed ANOVA were used. The Bonferroni post-hoc test was applied to identify differences when a significant F value was found. Statistical significance was set at 5% and a confidence interval of 95%. Results: The runners carried out an initial assessment, and it was observed that before the race, both groups were without pain or fatigue (0), and the perception of recovery was well recovered (17). After the running protocol, it was observed that running generated pain and fatigue, as both groups had an increase in pain (approximately 2) and fatigue (approximately 3), and in the perception of recovery it dropped to 13 (reasonably recovered), showing a drop in income. However, after the interventions, both groups showed a good recovery, especially after 48 hours of intervention, in which the results returned to initial values (baseline) without pain (0) or fatigue (0) and were well recovered ( 17). However, in the analysis between groups, no significant differences were found for the variables evaluated. Conclusion: We can observe that the running protocol used was enough to generate pain and fatigue, however, both the percussive massage and the effleurage-type therapeutic massage proved to be effective in accelerating the recovery process after a 10km run, with no difference between the techniques
