Bumba Meu Boi is the generic term for the Brazilian popular cultural manifestation that features the ox as its main scenic and choreographic component. In Maranhão, the event gains prominence for its symbolic power, its resilience, and its ability to reinvent itself year after year without losing its essence (IPHAN/MA, 2011). The overall objective of this study was to investigate some of the sounds and sociabilities present in the Bumba Meu Boi of the quilombola community of Vila das Almas, in order to understand how these categories organize figurative social roles in their hierarchies, power relations, spaces, and sociabilities. Our hypothesis was that sounds, as phenomena, organize the choices of figurative social roles (conductor, tambourine players, Pai Francisco, Mãe Catirina, donkey, and bovine workers) played by the residents of Vila das Almas in the dynamics of the Bumba Meu Boi Brilho Quilombo Povoado Vila das Almas event. In this sense, we conducted qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research, divided into two parts: the first, bibliographic research; the second, field research proper, of the ethnographic type, with participant observation and listening, discussion groups, and semi-structured interviews. To reflect on and perceive the sonorities of the object of study, we used phenomenology and Ethnosonia, a type of ethnography of sound proposed by researcher Paula Molinari (2016). For theoretical foundation, I engaged with authors such as Molinari (2016), Zumthor (2001), Simmel (2006), Ingold (2008, 2023), Weber (2003), Padilha (2019), Turner (2013), Gennep (2011), and Geertz (2008). As a result, we identified socioethnosonic data on some sounds captured in the Bumba Meu Boi of Vila das Almas, which are directly related to the sociability and figurative social roles played by residents during the play. Thus, three socioethnosonic groups (or layers) stand out: in the first group, vocalization, sonic hierarchies, and power relations; in the second group, listening, insistence, and voices of the unconscious; and in the third group, spatiality, kinship, gender, and sounds.

Through literature review and data analysis, the research sought to identify the interests of classes materialized in the labor reform that look place in Brasil, from Federal Lae 13.467/2017. The hypothesis is that this phenomenon expresses the common project of the Brazilian bourgeoisie and brings with it two distinct facets: is a resulto f the world crisis and, at the same time, reaffirmation of historical trends in the development of capitalismo in Brasil, such as economic dependence, social inequality and political authoritarianism.based on a discourse of modernization, the Brazilian bourgeoisie breaks the hiatus of advances in neoliberalismo provoked by PT governaments and leads the country towards an economic model based on rente-seeking and the reprimarization of the national economy. This will be the reaction to a distributive conflict provoked rising wages and low unemployment on the hand and falling profit rates on the other. In view of the reduction of costs for capital, the offensive against labor rights is what ensures the unity of the different fractions of the bourgeoisie. The labor reform makes it possible to make hiring and working hours more flexible, and work hours, imposition of obstacles for trade union organization and difficulty in accessing Justice. Class interests are identified in the new legal framework for labor relations, pulling out working class conquests in earlier periods, configuring a counter-reform, typical of neoliberalism.

This research aims to analyze the perceptions of social assistance professionals, including psychologists and social workers, as well as LGBT users, regarding the social assistance services used by this population in small municipalities of Paraíba and in the capital, João Pessoa. The focus is to assess the perceptions of technical professionals and LGBT users, identifying the qualities of the services offered and the challenges faced in these specific contexts. The methodology used consisted of data collection through semi-structured interviews with professionals and users. The study highlights the importance of understanding the perceptions of social assistance professionals and users in different regional contexts, taking into account cultural and local specificities when reflecting on the social assistance services aimed at the LGBT population. The results, based on the professionals’ statements, showed that while the capital offers more training opportunities aimed at serving the LGBT population, smaller municipalities predominantly lack such programs. Both professionals and users reported that none of the CRAS centers surveyed carry out specific actions for this group. However, it is worth noting that in July 2025, an LGBT group was created in one of the small municipalities, which has contributed to greater visibility of this population’s needs.

The Territory of Mato Grande is characterized as a low dynamic region. While concentrating a large number of projects of agrarian reform settlements, the levels of development achieved by them were not sufficient to establish a new dynamic. In addition, the representative organizations of this segment are generally fragile and many have great difficulty accessing public policy. However, amidst this scenario, the New Hope Association, located in the settlement Rosario in Ceará Mirim, has excelled in the territory by being able to access a set of public policies, especially those aimed at marketing with developments in various aspects of reproduction of the families involved. In this sense, the objective of this research was to analyze the factors which made this association develop its agency capacity particularly as regards access to public policies. From the reconstruction of the trajectory of this association the research seeks to highlight the links that are established between the internal conditions of the organization and the broader political context, building a network capable of supporting different projects. We seek to show how the strategies of action of this association allowed a restructuring in their collective organization. The research demonstrates the important role played by an association of groups that has the capacity to establish networks of cooperation at various levels of the organization. This type of agency translates the efforts of association groups for structuring scenarios that may reconfigure the performance of these segments in rural areas, as constant participation in New Hope in projects for agricultural production in the settlements.

The objective of this dissertation is to understand the importance of community radios in the democratization process in Guinea-Bissau, based on the actions of Radio Papagaio, in the city of Buba. It seeks to articulate how community communication on the radios can encourage the exercise of rights and duties of citizens at the local and national level in the construction of citizenship for social emancipation. The work has as theoretical support, the discussion on the theory of democracy, in Joseph Schumpeter (1984) e Robert Dahl (2001) and its historical process in Guinea-Bissau. In this sense, the analysis proposed here on community communication and democracy involves an understanding of democracy that goes beyond the limits of Eurocentric democracy and goes beyond the hegemonic forms of granting democracy (above all, liberal democracy in its instrumentalist conception), developed by Santos and Avritzer (2002), that is, the work discusses practices of community movements that can provide alternatives to the way of understanding democracy, enhanced in community radios. And, in relation to community communication, the interest is to reflect on the experiences of community radios as an expression of popular movement initiatives in Guinea-Bissau, especially Radio Papagaio, from non-governmental organizations, community associations and other expressions linked to social movements. The case Study on Radio Papagaio aims to effectively highlight the identification of the characteristics of participatory, educational and community communication in the way the community participates and mobilizes itself in concrete actions within the city of Buba.

"Grãos de areia ou pérolas?": os discursos de profissionais da psicologia acerca da identidade de gênero transexual nos caps da cidade de Mossoró-RN

This thesis discusses the theme relating to the analysis of the speeches of Psychology professionals who work in the Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS) of Mossoró regarding transsexual gender identity. The main interest, therefore, is to investigate how the knowledge, practices and perceptions of Psychology professionals affect the care of transgender people in CAPS, with a specific focus on mental health and psychological issues associated with the gender identity of these people. The choice to restrict the study to the scope of Psychology is justified by the relevance of this field in emotional and mental reception and treatment, which is central to the reception experience at CAPS. This topic was chosen with the aim of investigating the reasons that lead a Psychology professional to neglect transgender people and fail to comply with a constitutionally guaranteed social right. From this perspective, the hypothesis is that there is an absence or difficulty in discussing the gender identity of transsexuals in CAPS. Thus, one of the goals of the research is to investigate whether and how discourses in the field of Psychology are applied in the aforementioned work environments by professionals in this area ― in relation to the gender identity of transgender people ― or whether there is an absence or rarity of discussion on this topic. Furthermore, with the research it will be possible to observe the individual view of professionals of this knowledge about the gender identity of transsexual people in such environments. Thus, the general objective of this work is to analyze the speeches of Psychology professionals ― about the identity of the transsexual gender in the CAPS where they provide services in the city of Mossoró-RN. As specific objectives, we intend to understand the conceptions of Psychology professionals about transsexual gender identity in the CAPS, investigating how these conceptions influence the care and reception of transsexual people; analyze how Psychology knowledge influences the behavior and care practices of psychologists when treating transgender people in CAPS; examine the difficulties and resistance of psychologists in CAPS when dealing with the demands of transgender people, including possible knowledge gaps or institutional barriers; and, finally, verify the practical application of the principles of welcoming and humanization in psychological care for transgender people in CAPS, evaluating how (or if) Psychology guidelines are followed. As a methodological path, it is recommended to deal with an exploratory, bibliographical, field and analytical research, using critical discourse analysis as a technique and inicially having as target audience 08 (eight) Psychology professionals who work in the CAPS, configuring the analysis of a qualitative nature. The theoretical basis is based on the perspective of Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Berenice Bento, among others, through whom it is possible to affirm the confirmation of the hypothesis raised, especially with regard to the difficulties of discussing of transsexual gender identity in the CAPS among Psychology professionals, who present in their speeches the existence of prejudices between users and professionals, in addition to the lack of training on the subject.

This dissertation aimed to comparatively analyze per capita social spending in municipalities in the Northeast of Brazil in relation to local government revenue per inhabitant (whether from own resources or intergovernmental transfers). Additionally, it examined the political alignment of local administrators with state and federal government officials across the biennia 2012/2013, 2016/2017, and 2020/2021. Methodologically, the study employed a literature review that revisited economic and political aspects from a conceptual perspective, along with an econometric measurement approach based on quantile regression using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). Dummy variables were also included to assess the behavior of the relationship under consideration. The research findings clearly demonstrated the strong influence of intergovernmental transfers—particularly federal transfers—on the financing of per capita social expenditures. The results indicated that the greater the economic dynamism of a municipality, the lower its fiscal dependency, and vice versa, regardless of external events. Additionally, while the dummy variables yielded few statistically significant results, the significant findings pointed to inconsistencies in social spending, suggesting political inefficiencies in the proper provision of public goods targeted at the most disadvantaged social groups.

We understand that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) play a central role in the structural transformation of capitalism in the last decades of the 20th century. The arrival of the internet in everyday life has led to significant changes in forms of social interaction and labor dynamics. With this in mind, this research aims to investigate the work of streamers on the Twitch TV platform, in order to characterize aspects of platform capitalism and the consequences of the uberization process in the universe studied. The research adopts a mixed methodological approach, involving participant observation in the virtual environment of the lives and the application of questionnaires directed at the streamers. The immersion in the platform made it possible to understand how it works, while the questionnaires collected data related to experiences, working hours, income, investments and relationships between the platform, streamers and users. The results contribute to an understanding of work relationships mediated by digital platforms, highlighting how the platform capitalism model impacts the organization of work, workers' rights and the future prospects of this emerging form of occupation.

(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, 2025-02-21) Saraiva, Mariane Joyce Ferreira; Silva, Lucas Trindade da; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3390-2046; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0314360149038167; https://orcid.org/0009-0003-3822-8369; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0856073747328714; Freitas, Andressa Lidicy Morais Lima; Machado, Bárbara Araújo; Morais, Carlos Eduardo Freitas
This dissertation seeks to analyze how the ideas of academic and activist Angela Yvonne Davis on penal abolitionism are addressed in Brazilian academic productions in the field of human sciences. The research is based on the hypothesis of the unsystematic or still scarce use of Davis in Brazilian academic literature on the subject, despite the growing global interest in Davis's ideas. The study aims to examine the main ideas and concepts of Davis’s penal abolitionism, evaluating how they are interpreted and applied in the Brazilian context, and identifying possible contributions, gaps, and theoretical-analytical complementarities. The dissertation is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter focuses on the central ideas and concepts of Davis’s penal abolitionism. The second chapter analyzes the main trends and debates in Brazilian academic productions on penal abolitionism and the presence of Angela Davis's contributions. The third chapter examines how Davis could contribute to the development of abolitionist ideas in the Brazilian context. This study is relevant for its potential to contribute to the academic debate, and it is expected to inspire new questions and promote critical reflection on current criminal justice practices in Brazil.
