A formação em Saúde Materno-Infantil no Seridó Potiguar: estrutura, funcionamento, potencialidades e desafios de um programa de residência multiprofissional

Abstract

This study aims to describe the potential and challenges of a Multiprofessional Residency program within the scope of professional qualification and in strengthening maternal and child health actions and services. This is an experience report on the Multiprofessional Residency in Maternal and Child Health of the School Multicampi of Medical Sciences at UFRN and its actio ns at Hospital do Seridó, in Caicó/RN. The results are organized in the presentation of the context of formation of Residencies in Health; the justification for the implementation and scenario of the Maternal Child Residence; and its structure and function ing. It is concluded that the Residences are a historical product of defense of education and health; that the weaknesses in the organization of the maternal and child health network in the Seridó Region justified the implantation and maintenance of the Re sidence, enabling the improvement of the loco regional health situation
