O perfil multi-instrumentista na formação inicial de professores de música: estudo sobre essa característica na educação musical

Abstract

Thinking about the plurality where the music teacher is inserted and the diversity of field of action, this work deals with the multi-instrumentalist profile of the music teacher. The general objective of this research was to understand the impact of the multi-instrumentalist characteristic in the practice and teacher training of undergraduates in Music at UFRN. The specific objectives were to understand the process of teacher training and practice regarding the multi-instrumentalist specificity; identify the difference between having the “Multi profile” and the “Multi need” in teaching approaches and methodologies; assess the resourcefulness of these skills and their meaning for a better performance in the classroom. For this research, authors such as Wayne Bowman, Antônio Nóvoa, Maura Penna contributed and supported my thoughts on teaching and learning music and being a teacher. Adding to these, Rauber and Silva base the ideas on the multi-instrumentalist side of the music teacher. The research had as a methodological path the realization of a focus group, where I sought to understand about the undergraduates and how they saw themselves in this environment so that this research will contribute to the development and training of the student in music. Thus, with the result of this research, we realize that the presence of the multi-instrumentalist characteristic makes a difference in the performance of the music teacher and that the more formative experiences and knowledge the teacher has, the better his/her performance as a teacher can be.
