dc.description.resumoThe search for natural and sustainable products has increased due to the environmental impact and toxicity of industrial products. Essential oils (EOs) are appreciated for their versatile biological activities, including insecticide. Clove (Syzygium aromaticum L) and cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) are examples of plants rich in EOs, with predominant components such as eugenol and cinnamaldehyde present in clove and cinnamon, respectively, which are effective in controlling the Aedes aegypti mosquito. However, the volatility and low aqueous solubility of EOs limit their applications. The use of nanoemulsions (NEs) is proving to be an effective strategy, as they can disperse immiscible O/A liquids and improve the stability and bioavailability of EOs. This study found that clove EO nanoemulsions were more stable for 30 days at 25 °C, with a size of 35.0 ± 17.7 nm, PDI 0.26 and zeta potential -8.6 ± 0.4 mV; and cinnamon nanoemulsions at 4 ºC, with 205.0 ± 7.8 nm, PDI 0.19 and -6.8 ± 0.7 mV. This work shows that it is possible to obtain nanoemulsions with essential oils using a simple, low-energy method, for subsequent evaluation in tests with Aedes aegypti larvae.pt_BR
