A beleza nos periódicos “O binóculo” e “Jornal das moças” (Caicó-RN, 1916-1927): repertório de fontes jornalísticas

Abstract

This research presents a repertoire of journalistic sources about beauty inserted in periodicals "Binocular" and "young women", Journal of the Bottom Joaquim Martiniano Neto (M.), guarded by the laboratory of Historical Documentation (LABORDOC) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), higher education center the Seridó (CERES), Campus of Caicó. The construction work started from the development of a database with articles about beauty and beauty contests, facilitating the identification of the document through the descriptive elements. As for the methodology, started with the contact with the existing literature about archival science and history of Beauty, definition of temporal analysis, articles and news about beauty contests published in newspapers and inclusion of documents in the database in Microsoft Access format. The cataloging of newspapers published in Caicó-RN, in the period from 1916 to 1927, to work as an instrument of research and access to documents, allows investigations related to beauty, beauty pageants and beautiful issues published in the press in early 20th century, opening the possibility of writing a history of beauty in the Seridó.
