Ethnobotanical studies in the Caatinga have made it possible to describe new species that are sources of molecules with potential biological activity, such as Cenostigma bracteosum, which has antibacterial activity leading to its incorporation into a carbopol 940 gel base, a stable, economically accessible and long-release pharmaceutical form. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the stability of a gel containing hydroalcoholic extract of Catingueira (C. bracteosum) for topical use on the skin. For this study, the stability of the formulation was assessed over 30 days by analyzing the pH, conductivity, viscosity and spreadability of three samples: the base gel and two other samples with 1% and 3% of the extract, all tests being carried out in triplicate. Both samples remained stable during the analysis time, however, the sample with the 3% extract concentration proved to be more suitable, since it had a pH within the skin's pH range and viscosity and spreadability suitable for topical use, proving to be eligible for future investigations into its potential biological activities and possible cosmetic use.pt_BR
