dc.description.resumo | The Desvenlafaxine (DES) is a third-generation antidepressant indicated for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Like any medication during development, a preformulation study is necessary, involving the evaluation of the physicochemical properties of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to generate information for the development of a pharmaceutical formulation. Considering the absence of literature studies on the characterization of DES, we propose to undertake this work, focusing on thermal characterization and compatibility studies. The analytical techniques employed include Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetry (TG), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Desvenlafaxine was assessed with pharmaceutical excipients: lactose, mannitol, starch, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. This study aims to identify potential incompatibilities in the binary mixture that could lead to a reduction in therapeutic effects or alterations in pharmacokinetics. The thermal analysis techniques (DSC and TG) indicated compatibility between desvenlafaxine and the excipients: starch, mannitol, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. However, the analysis using FTIR revealed that there aren’t interaction between desvenlafaxine and lactose. Thus, based on the results, it is possible to propose a more stable, secure, and effective formulation. | pt_BR |
