Análise do conteúdo da crítica cinematográfica do filme "Pobres Criaturas"

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of five film reviews written by women about the movie Poor Things (2023), directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, in order to determine whether the texts express a favorable or unfavorable reading of the film’s feminist and empowering themes. The research starts from the hypothesis that most of the reviews acknowledge a libertarian stance in the protagonist Bella Baxter's journey. The methodology applied is qualitative content analysis, as proposed by Bardin (2016), focusing on linguistic, thematic, and argumentative elements. The theoretical framework includes bell hooks' (2018) concept of feminism and Naila Kabeer’s (1999) theory of empowerment. The results show that three out of five reviews demonstrate a favorable interpretation of the film's feminist perspective, while two adopt an unfavorable stance, highlighting possible contradictions in the depiction of female autonomy.
